Secret CIA assessment says Russia was trying to help Trump win White House

By Adam Entous, Ellen Nakashima and Greg Miller December 9 at 10:45 PM
The CIA has concluded in a secret assessment that Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump win the presidency, rather than just to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system, according to officials briefed on the matter.

Intelligence agencies have identified individuals with connections to the Russian government who provided WikiLeaks with thousands of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and others, including Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, according to U.S. officials. Those officials described the individuals as actors known to the intelligence community and part of a wider Russian operation to boost Trump and hurt Clinton’s chances.

“It is the assessment of the intelligence community that Russia’s goal here was to favor one candidate over the other, to help Trump get elected,” said a senior U.S. official briefed on an intelligence presentation made to U.S. senators. “That’s the consensus view.”

I believe it was Hillary who ignored the heartland's concerns about the economy that lost it for her. She was associated with NAFTA, rightly so, and NAFTA drove millions of jobs out of the heartland. If Bernie hadn't drove her left, she would have lost even bigger.

The word is she plans to try again in 2020.

Oh come on now as stupid as Hillary and her people are a 13 y.o. gamer could have hacked them. Sure the Russians knew about her illegal dealings as stated in her emails as well as China, Iran, and Mongolia. What the left wing puppets on here and the media don't get is not that she was so easy to hack, but what she and her gangsters said and did. She had no respect for the Democratic Party, she calls herself a Progressive (a follower of Soros) and not even her own people deny that she is a liar and a thief.

Note: Neither her emails out of office or the DNC emails are government emails. And her emails in office are suppose to be public record.

As far as the CIA goes, it has been pretty much destroyed like the FBI, the Home Land Security, IRS, just to mention a few departments, by Obama and company into a police state run group that owes its loyalty not to the people or the Constitution but to the Leader. Oh hail the Leader.

Since Obama by his own admission hardly ever attend a security meeting and had no respect for them or the military you can see their worth.

Even without Obama and Clinton family doing all they could to destroy them, even when they were working they made mistakes, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, etc.

The puppets in their organizations have been told what lies and stories to put out, the "Party Line" and the puppets of the media (all our great Joseph Goebbels want a bees) then do as they are told and pass on the lies.

Trump won not because of Russia, but because of Clinton and Obama. All the lies about polls and how Clinton was ahead didn't mean a thing. Even in the big corrupt cities like L. A. Chicago etc and states like Nev. and CA and Ill where peoples votes don't count, she still couldn't win because the nation didn't want her and didn't listen to the lies of the media or hers.

Not Russia but Clinton threw the election.

The Anonymous Blacklist Promoted by the Washington Post Has Apparent Ties to Ukrainian Fascism and CIA Spying

An interesting article about the source of the "Russian Menace."

One of the key media sources who blamed the DNC hacks on Russia, ramping up fears of crypto-Putinist infiltration, is a Ukrainian-American lobbyist working for the DNC. She is Alexandra Chalupa—described as the head of the Democratic National Committee’s opposition research on Russia and on Trump, and founder and president of the Ukrainian lobby group “US United With Ukraine Coalition”, which lobbied hard to pass a 2014 bill increasing loans and military aid to Ukraine, imposing sanctions on Russians, and tightly aligning US and Ukraine geostrategic interests.

In October of this year, Yahoo News named Chalupa one of “16 People Who Shaped the 2016 Election” for her role in pinning the DNC leaks on Russian hackers, and for making the case that the Trump campaign was under Kremlin control. “As a Democratic Party consultant and proud Ukrainian-American, Alexandra Chalupa was outraged last spring when Donald Trump named Paul Manafort as his campaign manager,” the Yahoo profile began. “As she saw it, Manafort was a key figure in advancing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s agenda inside her ancestral homeland — and she was determined to expose it.”

Chalupa worked with veteran reporter Michael Isikoff of Yahoo News to publicize her opposition research on Trump, Russia and Paul Manafort, as well as her many Ukrainian sources. In one leaked DNC email earlier this year, Chalupa boasts to DNC Communications Director Luis Miranda that she brought Isikoff to a US-government sponsored Washington event featuring 68 Ukrainian journalists, where Chalupa was invited “to speak specifically about Paul Manafort.” In turn, Isikoff named her as the key inside source “proving” that the Russians were behind the hacks, and that Trump’s campaign was under the spell of Kremlin spies and sorcerers.

Not Russia but Clinton threw the election.

This was a close election in which Trump lost the popular vote by 2%, and won a few swing states by narrow margins. The story about Clinton being the more corrupt of the two main candidates was helped along by the Russians, but it was a story that the Republicans had been working on for a long time, even before they even knew who would get their nomination.

The thing is, they cultured so much hate for the Clintons, that they were willing to sell their souls to the devil himself. Trump will likely let everyone know exactly how corrupt, greedy, and unstable he really is in the months to come.

A member of Putin’s United Russia party is gleeful about Russia’s role in the U.S. election.

“It turns out that United Russia won the elections in America,” Viktor Nazarov, the governor of Omsk, Russia, declared in a radio interview.

Long before Donald Trump was on the radar of American voters, Russia had deep interests in the outcome of elections around the world. But 2016 presented a unique window.

Motivated by years of crippling economic sanctions and decades of post-Soviet setbacks, the Russians were keener than ever to pounce; the race for the White House, plagued by party infighting and scandal, was easy bait.

Electoral College Electors Demand Intelligence Briefing On Russia Election Interference

In the letter, ten electors requested an intelligence briefing before they vote:

The Electors require to know from the intelligence community whether there are ongoing investigations into ties between Donald Trump, his campaign or associates, and Russian government interference in the election, the scope of those investigations, how far those investigations may have reached, and who was involved in those investigations. We further require a briefing on all investigative findings, as these matters directly impact the core factors in our deliberations of whether Mr. Trump is fit to serve as President of the United States.

Additionally, the Electors will separately require from Donald Trump conclusive evidence that he and his staff and advisors did not accept Russian interference, or otherwise collaborate during the campaign, and conclusive disavowal and repudiation of such collaboration and interference going forward.

And:
It Is Time To Seriously Consider Treason Charges Against Republicans

Besides traitors Trump, McConnell, FBI Director James Comey, and Trump’s campaign staffers, one-time New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, a close Trump confidante and ally, knew about the illegal Russian involvement in Trump’s campaign and its theft of America’s property. In fact, according to a Politico article, Giuliani said before the revelation Clinton emails were stolen, “The Russians have those emails, they’ve had them for some time.” There is only one way Giuliani knew the Russians had the stolen emails and was going to pass them to their paid operatives in Wikileaks; the Trump campaign knew despite their lying claims to the contrary.

Scott Dworkin, Senior Advisor to the “Democratic Coalition” stated the obvious:

“Rudy Giuliani stated that he knew the Russians had hacked into and stole property that belonged to Secretary Clinton, it doesn’t get much more clear-cut than that. It’s not surprising that someone so close to Trump’s campaign would have knowledge of the attacks perpetrated at the hand of a foreign government.”

Oh it aint over yet! :)

Losers rarely get a second chance in the presidential sweepstakes. I think Nixon was the most recent one.

Don't forget that Reagan had to make two tries for the Pub nomination -- and after he lost his first bid in 1976, the pundits wrote off his career as finished once and for all.

If Russia likes Trump so much, can we send him there for good?

When I was a young person, the biggest insult a right winger would offer when putting down a protester involved with civil rights or the Viet Nam war was, "If you hate America so much, why don't you move to Russia?"

Now here we are, 50 years later, and the right wingers are providing cover for the strong man from the KGB. Anything to gain power, and might is right.

The right has always had a fascination with authoritarian dictators.

Secret CIA assessment says Russia was trying to help Trump win White House

Well I can't blame them.

Business with Trump or war with Clinton....I would have backed Trump if I were Russian too.

You can't "run outta voters" if you win the popular vote by over 2.5 million votes.

Too bad they were all in SF/LA/NYC LOL

The right has always had a fascination with authoritarian dictators.

 As opposed to the lefts passionate love for them???

Most authoritarian dictators are leftist.

That's what the left is, government control, authority, force of government over the individual.

Hillary lost because "Fuck white people, you're all racist, sexist, oppressors." doesn't win elections outside of the most liberal of urban uberplexes.

Just some food for thought as mull the possibility/probability of Russian intervention in the last election cycle.

1. The DNC and Podesta email hacks were relatively unsophisticated. In the first it was a standard phishing attack. In the second it was a standard spear-phishing attack. Both of which can be executed by any high school kid with a bit of knowledge and access to 4Chan to get the scripts.

2. Only two bits of hard data have been leaked so far concerning the assignment of responsibility to Russian state sponsored hackers. An IP address in the Ukraine was part of the chain for the DNC hack and the software tool used contained fragments of text comments in Cyrillic. Both of which comprise circumstantial evidence at both. Even if the leak is true - first, that kind of sloppiness would point fingers strongly at an independent actor using commonly available tools, and second, that sort of "accident" is precisely what someone would place in the files to misdirect any investigative effort.

3. All the furor in the media right now hinges around anonymous sources leaking a supposedly classified briefing. Without an attributed source it's impossible to independently just the quality of information. (And no less of a left sided person that Glenn Greenwald reports he is highly skeptical.)

4. Absent actual evidence of intent, intent is the hardest thing to prove.

Fox and McConnell are on the Russian connections.

Fox News host Shep Smith slams Trump’s lies about Russian hacks in bid to halt election investigation

Fox News host Shepard Smith took Donald Trump to task Monday afternoon, flat out stating that the president-elect is lying when he claimed that accusations of Russian hacking only surfaced after he was was elected president.

Drawing attention to Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell saying, “It’s hard to believe any Republicans could in any way ever be against reviewing these Russian tactics,” Smith noted that Trump is one such Republican.

“President-elect Donald Trump has called the CIA’s assessment ridiculous,” Smith remarked. “A statement he based on nothing. Tweeting today, ‘Can you imagine if the election results were the opposite, and we tried to play the Russia-CIA card? It would be called a conspiracy theory.’ ‘Unless you catch hackers in the act it’s very hard to determine who was doing the hacking. Why wasn’t this brought up before the election?'”

“It was brought up before the election,” Smith continued. “Over and over and over again. US officials absolutely did say before the election that Russian hackers stole emails from Democratic officials and gave them to the website WikiLeaks. But, according to The Washington Post, The New York Times, and the CIA has since determined it was all part of an effort to help Donald Trump, not simply to disrupt the election but to help Donald Trump. And 17 national security agencies are in on this assessment.”

Donald says it's not true, so...

Donald says it's not true, so...

And when Donald says it's not true . . . that helps us not at all. Never mind dishonest intent, most of the time he doesn't even know what's true (all of the time he doesn't care).

Of course there is no logical reason to think Hillary was any more likely to start a war with Russia than Trump. But lets not let tiny things like logic get mixed up in this.

As for the Russians at the end of the day it doesn't matter what they did or didn't do so lon gas they didn't hack the voting machines which nobody has suggested that they did.

You must be willfully blind to not see the beef between Clinton and Putin.

All speculation aside it's blatantly obvious those two were looking for a fight.
