Greg Lake Dead at 69

Dude gave me the feelz even more than Bowie.

...Still you turn me on

69 is way too young.

This is a major bummer.

Great solo tune of his. As classic as his work with King Crimson and ELP.

RIP dude. Your music profoundly influenced a whole lot of us.

I just listening to that while reading the posted RS article. I think that's a wonder vocal performance and song. I never realized that Greg Lake was the producer of all those records.

Emerson killed himself earlier this year. :(

Did that news make the board?

That sucks.

Guess I'm spending the day listening to ELP and King Crimson.

Probably the most angst ridden song ever written.

21st Century Schizoid Man

Cat's foot iron claw
Neuro-surgeons scream for more
At paranoia's poison door
Twenty first schizoid man.

Blood rack barbed wire
Politicians' funeral pyre
Innocents raped with napalm fire
Twenty first century schizoid man.

Death seed blind man's greed
Poets' starving children bleed
Nothing he's got he really needs
Twenty first schizoid man.

Songwriters: GREG LAKE, IAN MCDONALD, MICHAEL REX GILES, PETER JOHN SINFIELD, ROBERT FRIPP

Good call.

Lake said he lived quite comfortably from royalties from Kanye West for sampling 21st Century Schizoid Man.

He said he liked it so much he played West's version before his (Lake's) last concerts, then dimmed the house lights and had his band explode with THEIR version of 21st. Said it was an incredible audience reaction, night after night.

Couldn't remember. But I thought that would have been to big to miss.

Huh, now I know who the Lake was in the name. Always wondered but not enough to actually look and find out. Kind of like it was years before I knew who the Nash was in CSN&Y.

That particular song is one of those couple-in-a-lifetime songs that you assign to a memory, person, event...specifically a nostalgic focal point.

Some WWE wrestlers are tweeting tonight about a "memorable" transatlantic flight where the shared the first class cabin with ELP.

I can't imagine... :D
