The "Fuck you cancer!" thread

You all know that I've had my dealings with cancer, both personally and in my immediate family. Yet before today I haven't felt compelled to utter (type) the words that make up the title of this thread. I still can't, for my own reasons, but today I am closer to primal anger than I have been in a long time. Last week we buried my mother, who had suffered with breast cancer for 6 years. Over the course of the time that I was with my family to celebrate her life, I met so many people who had themselves dealt with breast cancer, or lost a sister or brother to cancer, that I lost count. I doubt that Joe Biden's Cancer Moonshot would have given us a quick and universal solution even if he had been able to continue it under a new administration, but I beg our scientific community to work even harder to solve this deadly puzzle that robs our world of so much beauty.

Exactly. I learned that sometimes you just have to admit that you are too tired instead of just putting a strong facade up.

That ALS commercial gets me too. I honestly didn't know much about the disease until Steve Gleason but I have learned more about it and understand the struggles that your loved one endures

I loved reading this poem. Thanks for sharing it. The Warren Zevon song made me cry...just when I thought I had no tears left today.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in their individual battles for themselves and for loved ones. Stay strong.

My recollection is that 2014 sucked pretty badly, too, but this year has been a whole other level of ugly. I'm sorry, DS, I hope a virtual hug or six will help a little. :rose:

Had my year and a half checkup, blood work cane back clear. Doctor is moving me to 6 month reviews with a nurse practitioner. Nice to get that news before the holidays
