This is a thread that I need, and I’m sure others who have ever logged off or upgraded need, to give a general notification:

No, we aren’t ghosting you, so yes, we still love you!

During an upgrade/glitch contacts can be lost and the system can abscond with all your history, RP stories, and sexy pics and vids. It’s a risk we all have to take when newer versions of apps come out.

This is a place to notify people of any problems you’re having, and perhaps to re-find people lost to the system ;) Sometimes it can be difficult to remember all your contacts, especially if they had an ID such as AD, AB, A B, A D, B D, DB, BD, D B or something.

So, I’ll go first...

I have upgraded my kik a couple of hours ago and have lost a lot of information.

I am so sorry to all those people I have lost to cyberland when I upgraded my Kik. I lost everyone in my New Chats list and many in my contacts. I tried to notify my contacts with a message first, now it’s up to you to reconnect because I can only remember a few EXACT names. I had like three Chris’ and two James’, a Jack and two Johns… so you can understand my pain…lol. And all your lovely, sexy pics are gone. :(
As I’ve completely lost my New Chat list, I’m afraid I’ll have to start from scratch. I'm so sorry to those who were waiting so patiently for me to open our chat. I hope you understand.

that is such a bummer, I had that happen once....I feel your pain. May they all track you dowm and your KIK,fill back up in all of its glory;)

Good luck sorting your system out. Lesson learned. Don't be an early adopter of updates, we have no idea what we are doing when we fix code.

According to this helpdesk article, Kik upgrades have a specific issue with this. The article suggests a possible procedure to get them back (read the instructions), although it might be a long shot.

It occurs to me that it might be a good suggestion for the Kik app designers to build in a facility to export/import a Kik contacts to/from a text file. That oughtn't to be rocket science, and it would also enable users to back up their contacts periodically and also move contacts from one smartphone to another.

This might also be a long shot, but something similar happened to me a while back. I was so upset, thought I lost all my contacts when my chats disappeared. But, at least for me, that wasn't the case.

I have Kik on a tablet, so this process might be slightly alteted, but hopefully still works. In the bottom right of the main part of the Kik app is a blue plus sign. If you click that, a menu pops up, including "find people". If you click that, it takes you into a search function, but beneath that is a list of "currently chatting with", regardless of whether you have actual chats currently open with them or not. People I haven't spoken to in years are on there.

Hope this helps!

Great!!!

I actually went searching and on my version when I get to the search screen, I have to pull down my writing pad to reveal everyone I have ever chatted with. But it's called "Chatting with"– like present tense...lol – even though I thought I deleted some people.

I am a little gobsmacked at how many there are  And seeing a few old names has actually made my heart break *single tear*

Thanks heaps! You're a babe

Glad it helped! I meant to post yesterday, but I got sidetracked.

I'm more than just a WetJuicyCunt. Hooray! :D

Well, you know that mobile phone of yours? You better grease it up nice on good...lol :p I'm going to make your ass sing Ding Dong Merrily on High. No better way to feel the spirit of Christmas buzzing in your soul.

You asked...lol.

LOL Sure I will take credit for it lol.

What punishments are you going to dish out to me :p lol

Haha! So it has happened to me again but Skype this time!! Skype made me have two accounts - one I was using and a silly other one that would confuse people as to which account I am - argh. Skype wouldn't let me cancel one of them so I figured out how to merge them. Unfortunately, when Skype merged them they deleted all my contacts from my usable account - I lost everyone! - and now I'm stuck with the one I wanted deleted in the first place.

Long story short... I am sorry if you don't hear from me... *cry* I just don't have your contact anymore.

(Please note: I don't take on unsolicited contacts :p )

I'm sorry I deleted everyone on skype, except for the people I actually like. Please add me so I can delete you all again...and post another apology.
