Bump this in 2020. . .maybe 2024.

Why yes she is that McSally from McSally v Rumsfeld. (She won.)

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/07/McSally_A-10.jpg

Why yes, that is an A10 "Warthog," just about the most bad-ass plane ever built, and a LOT cheaper than an F35 lightning.

Retired full Colonel in the USAF.

Yes, the very same McSally that was the first woman to pilot a combat sortie, the first female squadron leader to lead a combat mission.

About 5th in her class at The Airforce Academy.

First in her class at the Air War College.

Master's Degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.

Professor at George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies.

Security and foerign affairs advisor for Senator Jon Kyl.

She's a champion tri- athlete.

Won the heavily Democratic, heavilly Arizona 2nd Congressional District from an entrenched incumbant on her second try by a margin of 167 votes. This is the Tucson, Arizona District. The district that wanted to secede from Arizona. Because liberal.

She just won reelection by 37,000 votes.

She will be 54 in 2020.

The only thing missing from her resume is she's never become "qualified" been married to a governor or a president of the United States.

I can't wait for the usual suspects around here to start calling her stupid and suffering from internalized misogyny.

The A-10 is a badass bit of fixed-wing CAS.
It sucks ass for Air Superiority.
The F-15 is bassass at Air Superiority. The F-18 Superhornet ain't so bad either.

The F-35 is a MIC boonswaggle; designed to do everything half-assed but no one specific role better than anything else.

The US need a few different types of military airframes:
Air Superiority
Close Air Support
Strategic Bombing
Recon
C&C
Logistics
Trainers

One size fits all is the strategy of stupid.

Agreed. It's far too low and slow for air superiority. You already have air superiority before you send in the Thunderbolts.

I find myself around Luke Air Force Base a lot and I run into all kinds of interesting people and because I'm so loquacious you hear some interesting stories which is what prompted the above. I had that thought about her eventually being president a couple of years ago when she won. I was down in Tucson at the time and she was only after a recount.

I was talking to a retired F-16 driver this morning and I don't remember how she came up in conversation but he was one of her instructor pilots. He had nothing but good things to say about her. He said what I thought the first time I heard about her she's going to be president someday.

She went on to be a T37 trainer before they allowed women into combat once they allowed women into combat she ended up in A10s which is kind of the opposite of T37s

The tweety birds make more sense as A-10 trainers than the T-38's.
Then again, I'm partial to the F-5 airframe in all its variants.

It might not be such a bad thing to have a POTUS with honest to god military experience (and not draft dodging National Guard bullshit either).

Bush 41 was the last POTUS that qualified, and, as much as I disliked him, didn't think he sucked anywhere near as much as the last two or the current president-elect.

I think it is instructive that they have seen firsthand the consequences of war. I'm not sure if she just is not a military industrial complex shill or if she just loyal to her A10 but she has pointed out that the F-35 is a boondoggle. That doesn't make you friends in the defense industry.

Down around Tucson you regularly see flights of four A10s lumbering around out of Davis-Monthan. They don't look like they should stay in the air.

How did Luke I see F35s coming in for landings all the time they actually do look a little ungainly at slow speeds. They had a big tanker up the other day slowly circling but as I drove about I didn't see anybody practicing refusing.

F22s are pretty in flight.

Everyday is an air show along the Northern Parkway. It's a weird little stump of the freeway that never connected the 303 to the 101. 6 Lane divided freeway with a 55 mile an hour speed limit then suddenly ends and becomes a two-lane road through the river bottom and past a sand and gravel operation.

Good point she will be eminently "qualified."

I wonder why the Democrats didn't run Monica Lewinsky? She's just as "qualified" as Hillary Clinton; probably more so.

~tee hee~

The Dollar's up down,
She's better by the pound...

Listen to Monica talk!
