I wonder if we are sowing the seeds that will yield a better world. It seems to me we are just sowing the seeds that yield disaster.
By not addressing the problems of the society from a systemic intellectual way, but knee jerking our way along the "Greatest Profit This Quarter" path. We are not investing in our future. The kids who will pay for our nursing homes. Don't think the State will pay for wiping your ass.

Which brings to mind the latest Trumpanzee, Jerry Falwell for Sec Education! WTF!

Shouldn't you wait until he actually takes office before fortelling Armageddon?

My point was that neither Trump or Hillary would make America better. Hillary wanted to bomb Syria to fuck over the Russians and Trump wanted to bomb the hell out of Syria because he had no other idea on how to combat the CIA-Saudi-Oman supported 'rebels'.

Trump has become more moderate now that he has to make actual decisions. Trump will never moderate himself enough to be a centerist, he's too much of a New York prick to ever reach the center.

WTF, Jack? Clinton wanted to make a no-fly zone over Syria. No bombing.

Oh that is different, enforce a No-Fy zone over a country not her own, to help the rebels she armed and supported, in a country thousands of miles from the USA. What a Peace Maker. they should give her a Nobel Prize.

It's like the difference between your girlfriend refusing to have sex with you, and cutting your dick off.

That shows the intellectual poverty of our political discourse. Phrodeau, I had high hopes that this thread would raise the level of discourse but noooo, you don't even address the issue and you deflect the discussion. WHy are you not able to conduct a discussion. You sound like Underguy.

Why should anyone discourse with someone who deliberately lies?

1) Define what constitutes a "better world". "Better" for whom? How many actual humans (beyond Literotica's GB) support this definition? What quantitative data do you have to support said support or lack of support with your definition?
2) "Law" of unintended consequences. Doesn't matter what one's intentions may or may have not have been, it is the actual consequence, short-term, mid-term, long term, that decides if said "consequences" translated to a "better world".

We are sowing the seeds of something. what that "thing" becomes is unlikely to be whatever it was we predicted.

My prediction is that "smart" tech and a newly sentient world wide "cloud" starts treating H. sapiens as the herd animals they are.

All except Harold, of course.
He's that most dangerous of all animals;
The clever sheep.

Y'all oughta pray for a massive extinction-level asteroid strike.

That's the only way this shit will be sorted out.

We're really pissing in the wind.

Stand back.

We now have unhinged extremists on two continents and the Indian and Arabian peninsulas and will probably (unfortunately) have one in North America soon with their fingers on 'The Button'.

I'm not sure the seeds sown (kids born) in the last ten years will see Adulthood. At least not in a manner unlike Mad Max.

IT IS STILL 3 MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT

2016: "Last year, the Science and Security Board moved the Doomsday Clock forward to three minutes to midnight, noting: 'The probability of global catastrophe is very high, and the actions needed to reduce the risks of disaster must be taken very soon.' That probability has not been reduced. The Clock ticks. Global danger looms. Wise leaders should act—immediately." See the full statement from the Science and Security Board on the 2016 time of the Doomsday Clock.

I wouldn't be surprised to see that moved up significantly if the North American Psychopath is allowed to take office.

One way things could be better is if we stopped invading other countries because the Establishment doesn't like their politics. That would be a start.

Another way would be if we allowed others to have their own opinions and did to them as we would like others to do to us.

Or, how about we enforce the law equally? I mean just because you're the Vice President doesn't mean you can break international law and treaties and not pay the price.

Invading due to difference in politics is one thing. Invading because they are murdering women and hanging teachers for trying to bring education to 50% of the population is okay by me. That is after embargoing them and opening our borders to anyone wishing to flee such oppression doesn't work.

If allowing others to have their own opinions means allowing KKK and Nazi wannabes march down the street, count me out. I'll be busy stockpiling bricks!

If vice-presidents and presidents get away with violating international law it is because the vast majority of people in their country allow them to. Unless you live in one of the countries referred to in first two points.

Jerry Jr. is no longer under consideration for SoE, if ever he was (and I had never heard that he was). The SoE has already been selected, and it is not Falwell. However, Falwell, as president of a Christian college that tries to keep the Feds at arms length, would certainly have a perspective on government intrusion into education that Trump should listen to. I for one hope the Dept of Education is drastically cut, if not entirely abolished.

If only prayer was allowed in school. Then all the Muslim students would be skipping class three times a day to find a rug to kneel on, and never show up on Fridays. Muslim students will all get a substandard education, and that's what the majority of Americans want, right?

Why would you want get rid of public education? Educating the working man is were we get true democracy. Democracy has to be an informed choice. And how the hell do want to keep jobs in America if Chinese and Mexican workers are technically better educated and under paid (capitalist love scenarios like that)? You want to get all medieval and have the church be responsible for education? And then what let religious schools teach our youth with no government oversight? Shit dude, while you're at it why not let Sharia law rule in communities that want it. Goes hand in hand with a religious education.

Get rid of public education! Gotta be one of the dumbest ideas I ever heard. Unless you want to suggest getting rid of meat packing plant inspectors.

That's the wrong tree you're barking up. He wants to get rid of the federal department of education, and allow states to run their schools their way. That's how it used to be, and nobody remembers how poor, haphazard and inequitable public education was.
