I think National Geographic does a Amazon luxury run. One that caters for the elderly. As in the well-off, not-too-many-stairs elderly.

Kinda blows away the old Hollywood stereotype/trope of going down the river in old, rusty tugboats waiting for mutant anacondas to pop out of the water!

LOL! Rather like that old movie: The Creature From the Black Lagoon.

You can still travel by rusty tugboat if it takes your fancy, just FYI. Not my recommendation. They rarely come equipped with air conditioning.

My riverboat definitely had AC and three five star meals a day. I was there for 10 days total and saw all kinds of cool animals, met fantastic people and really enjoyed my time.

I have never been on one but I have a friend who has and I saw the pics. Like any river cruise you see in the US but with S. American beasties in and around the water instead of catfish and carp. I'd totally go on one someday if I could afford it.
