The "Fuck you cancer!" thread

Had another lung test today, up to 55% lung capacity. Keep improving, even if a slow process

So sorry Apple...praying they find a new program or treatment to help your brother in his ongoing battle...praying also for your family as they continue to support him during this brutal fight.

Thank you cmslt, cookie, and cb (and everyone) for you thoughts and prayers. Last week, I actually thought my brother was going to die any day. He looked like the walking dead. I was barely able to get him out of the car when I took him to Sloan Kettering. He was sleeping 20 hours a day and could barely walk on his own. It looked like his liver was failing.

Now, after several days of hydration and a slow improvement in his appetite, he is bouncing back and improving little by little. His pain is off the charts and we've upped his meds, but at least he doesn't look like he just survived a war camp. It was so bad, I discussed hospice and care-giving issues with his children (young adults).

It's an up and down battle with this disease. I hate his being in pain, but yet, I still want him to fight and survive as long as he can tolerate it. I don't want him to suffer any more than he already has. It's very conflicting.

I hope everyone is staying strong and doing as well as can be hoped for and expected in their own situations. Peace and hope to all. :rose:

GoAztecs...so very happy you are having improvements in your lung functions. Hope all is well with you.:rose:

Thank you. Thoughts with you too

I beat cancer. It was horrible. The treatment was basically we will poison you in the hopes of killing the cancer. Next time I will just check out . I don't need another 6 months.

I give a shout-out to my beloved Litster friend of whom I am so proud: she finished her chemo rounds Thursday! Go, D, go! You fucking rock! FYC!

:rose:

- Congrats scot! Stuff like that is clearly worth celebrating and so easy to let the good things sort of melt away like ice cubes that fall under the fridge.

- Apple, I am thinking of you and your brother. How lucky he is to have you, and I hope you will remember that. It's hard to think of fortune or luck in his position, but what a positive force you are for him and for anti-cellfucker units behind enemy lines. :rose:

- Christobal, I can't know what you know; with my melanoma I never had to have the poison. I have seen those I love undergo it, and your description seems apt. May standard go-to treatments continue to emerge that aren't themselves so terrible on the body. That would be a huge FYC.

That is wonderful news!! One day at a time!

**

My aunt was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer. She is undergoing radiation and chemo. Another aunt (by marriage) has throat cancer, she's never smoked in her life. Both at the same time, so it's taken us all by surprise. These are the first instances of cancer in our family, as close as we've ever been.

More than difficult days for cmslt2326, so supportive of so many here.

Do give her a shout out.

Damn it. My subs stepdad went to get a CT scan as he has lost about 25 lbs in 2 months and felt like crap. The Dr. Reviewed the films and sent him directly to the Oncologist instead of ordering a biopsy saying that there were black spots on his pancreas and liver. NOT GOOD.

He's a cool guy. I'm not jumping the gun but Pancreatic cancer is 92% fatal over five years and 20% fatal on a year over year basis.

So FUCK YOU CANCER.

Hi cmslt, so glad that day is behind you! Big hugs! And a kiss :)

Vorpalone, strength to you and yours. Healing vibes  :rose:

Sorry to hear this...hoping he is successful in fighting this nasty disease....

I have an aunt that had two single masectomy's, then it was in her lymph nodes, then she had weeks to live.

That was a decade ago. It's actually made the ex-California primary school teacher a decent human being to be around. I have to mail order her meds, and I'm probably never going to see her alive again, but as long as there's something to live for the human body can sort itself out amazingly well.

In early October, the wife had precancerous patches treated. Then two weeks ago, she went back to deal with one of the areas which was not responding. They excised the area, on her face, and discovered it was cancer, but the results also showed that they removed all the cancerous cells. So wonderful news for now and they have a protocol in place to follow her progress. As always, early detection and not taking anything for granted are important strategies for us to kick cancer's ass! PLEASE get any and all screenings that your docs recommend! FUCK YOU CANCER!!!!!
