Foxes are one of my favorite animals. I live out in the country and I get to hear their mating call which is really creepy, lol. But I love it.

Foxes look cute but they stink, are totally filthy and in this part of the world we kill them whenever possible, because they devastate the local wildlife which did not evolve with these introduced predators. Dogs will kill foxes if they can, but the dog needs to be reasonably quick and big. However, the fox is always smarter than the dog and that is usually enough.

Almost all urban foxes in UK which are more than 2 years old have mange.

I used to have a 120 pound (8.57 stone) Golden that loved to jump on the trampoline.
 
A local fox killed the local skunk. But a couple of weeks ago I saw a big local cat chase the fox away. Too bad. Meanwhile, the local bear and puma seem to have headed downhill for the winter. I wonder if they'll find trampolines to bounce on?
 
I recently saw a Fox sitting on the side of the road. He was brilliant. I was shocked at how he seemed to glow. He/She is the most stunning creature I've ever seen in the wild.

Local perceptions can differ quite a bit. Foxes are important predators of rodents in most areas they inhabit. But even the cutest and most important animals can be horrendous and invasive.

Only ever seen one red fox and one grey. Red fox was hunting grassland type area of old capped off landfill site that borders the southern edge of the ESA near me.

The grey was up north at buddy's cabin. It showed no fear of us humans and was wandering around between us. After a round of pics, I shooed it away. Bets that it has a fear of humans for it's own sake. It was entirely fearless of us. The open area around the cabins and piles of wood and human type debris must have been great rodent areas. Special precautions are always made to keep mice out of cabins.

All it took was a "Hey you! Bugger off!" and it fled. Poked it's nose out from brush a few times but declined to walk amongst us.

We also like to feed chipmunks. Would be unnerving to have a fox come out of nowhere and kill the chipmunk you were hand feeding.

Chipmunks get unsalted peanuts in shell only.
 
Fata needs to know that mange in foxes is caused by infestations of tiny arachnids. Almost makes me sympathetic.
 
That ole shitehawk ColdWeasel will be on in a bit saying robins are vicious predators that rape the land and spread AIDS. :D
