As a Canadian future ex-pat that had no vote, the results didn't surprise me, but the magnitude did. And even though Hillary wasn't the best candidate, Bernie probably would have done worse.

The DNC is the last thing from liberal, and the GOP is the last thing from libertarian.
Who could've guessed that the anti-establishment candidate that FINALLY won the White House would be a GOP backed Donald Trump. He didn't need to put himself through this meat grinder, and he knows it won't stop.

But Hillary's biggest anchor was Obama's two terms of indifference. And the only impact it had on everyone's lives was Obamacare. Which is a total, utter, complete failure from it's original stated goals.

Mebbe, a slight chance, that the DNC will recognize their poster child was an empty chair with a few great regurgitated speeches. This wasn't a vote, this was a mandate, and Trump has the tools to do everything Obama never did.

Trump can cure cancer in his first term, but he'll never get the Nobel prize.

I really don't believe things will change that much, the rich will get a little richer(who saw that), manufacturing jobs won't come back, and trump will keep hiring illegals to build his casinos.

I'm hoping the trump pussy grab does catch on however.

What part does one actually grab? There isn't much to hold onto, and a lot of women shave.

What everyone fails to realize is the GOP doesn't hold all the cards. Senate Democrats hold one trump card, the filibuster. It takes a 2/3s vote to break a filibuster so the Dems will become the party of no. Nothing really changes. More government gridlock and bickering and once again we the people will be left holding an empty bag.

Yea, go ahead and force Trump to govern via Executive Orders LOL

I triple fuckin' hotdog dare Dems to do it. :D

I'd love to see all the NeoLib Obama fanclub members try and tell us how it was different when Obama was doing it.

Senate Democrats hold one trump card, the filibuster.

The Pubs are now thinking of getting rid of it. And they can do that, all it takes is a change in Senate rules, which can be done by simple majority vote. The filibuster is not in the constitution, the constitution says only that each house of Congress shall make its own rules. Nothing keeps the filibuster in place but tradition and inertia.

[shrug] Let 'em. For my part, I have always believed the filibuster (or right of unlimited debate) makes no sense and should be abolished; and I have always held that view consistently regardless of which party controlled the WH or which controlled the Senate; and I see no reason to change my mind now.

Democrats don't filibuster like Republicans, so it's not a Trump card, it's just something you're not going to see.

I disagree. I think many people were totally turned off by Hillary- her record as a serial liar was just hard too stomach. Some pundit put it well- mainstream media never took Trump seriously, but they did take him literally. Trump's supporters, however, tended not to take him literally, but they did take him seriously. For example, I don't think he's going to build a wall with Mexico, and he certainly isn't going to get Mexico to pay for it, not directly anyway. But he will address illegal immigration.

Tromp lied more constantly and vigorously than did Clinton but he was seen as more believable even while he spewed total bullshit. Yes, the media normalized Tromp and demonized Clinton. Tromp worked the media brilliantly.

And we'd be naive to not take him literally AND seriously. He said Mexico would capitulate when faced with USA military. That's a threat of war. He said he would force the military to commit war crimes. Do you dare not believe him? His minion Newt Gingrich said there would be no compromise, no accommodation, implying that any Americans opposing Tromp would be treated as enemies. Do you dare not believe him? Do you have a passport handy?

I think he agrees with me. The country is Center Right. Here is the entire campaign.

Trump: This man calls himself a socialist.
Bernie: Let me explain
Trump: How he wants to turn us into Soviet Russia! *Walks off, refuses to return for 2nd and 3rd debates*

California and New York remain blue. Everything else goes red as fuck.

Clinton is not of the left. Far from it.

Polling shows clearly that America (like everywhere else) wants leftist policy.

Bernie consistently polled as the popular choice by a significant margin.

Trump's win is not a victory for the right. It is a loss for the establishment neoliberals.

That's the point. Hillary is at best left of Center.

The polls show Americans want leftist policy. Until you call it socialism. We're illogical like that.

Trump is a lot of things and I hope the end of the neo liberals but I think we'll end up being a regional party not even on all the ballots if we follow Bernie.

Hillary is a right wing neoliberal and neoconservative.

The socialist label no longer works as a smear.

The Clintonistas' red baiting failed.

Bernie himself is finished. But a movement along socialist organising principles could retake the Democratic Party.

So, a loss in the popular vote but the right alignment of the states to take the EC is a 'mandate'? We understand that word differently, I guess.

I HOPE you're right, but I think the socialist smear works just fine and will until the Baby Boomers die.

Bernie is a self declared socialist (even though he isn't a real socialist) but he is the most popular politician in the country.

Your opinion isn't backed up by the evidence.

Because he's mostly a guy people don't know much about. And he's not as popular as Ron Paul.

What? You can't be serious.

The more people saw and heard Bernie and his policies, the more popular he became.

You are not being logical.

Ron is a super star, a Legend. Bernie is a popstar. I guess we'll know in four years.

I really hope like hell that you are right by the way.

Bernie's poll numbers are far higher than Ron Paul ever achieved. And they are opposites.

Ron Paul would kill the economy stone dead.

Right about what?

That the Dems could be taken over by a populist movement?

They could but the chances of it happening are slim to non-existent.
