Yeah, her voice does sound like "um." And whiskey and cigarettes and late nights alone without someone you really want to be with.

She is the daughter of a poet (Miller Williams) and was involved as a very young woman with the clusterfuck that was the emotional polygon that led to the suicide of the poet Frank Stanford.

I could not hear the lyrics properly cause I am in a café and I don’t have headphones with me.

This one is a recent home recording for voice and two guitars, I did it with a friend of mine in Heraklion last week. Me doing the finger picking and him the plectrum.
As it is in Greek (mostly) I give a rough translation:

SUNSET IN RIALTO

Sunset descents on Rialto,
thoughtful I sat somewhere to eat,
I reckoned, "Let me order as a first plate,
risotto with peas which I love!"

And the waiter says, " this plate
is always served for two".

Fuck it, what choice does he give me?
Is this dinner for laughing or for crying?
Should I order to cross out the risotto
and bring me only the peas?

Venice is a town for two,
and in my loneliness an unwilling fasting.

I say, "Bring me ravioli as a first,
for main dinner a roast steak"
and he goes, so I'm staring at the naughty girls,
Venice then has almost everything!

The only think she doesn't have is risotto,
for a lunatic jocker.

Alone I will eat my dinner,
with slow sips I will drink my wine,
