The Trudeau regime is going to double the current massively high levels of legal immigration to nearly a half a million per year into a country of about 35 million, not even counting refugees or illegals.

These will be the highest levels ever in Canadian history by a significant margin.

In addition, businesses will no longer have to even try to find a Canadian to do a job before they bring in a foreigner.

Given our rapidly aging population and tax base immigration needs to go up to keep our economy going.

I am in favour of increased immigration, the only thing that gets in the way is if all the immigration takes place to Toronto and Vancouver.

The report is somewhat skewed. The previous governments goal was 280,000 and these dummies increased it to 305,000 while some groups are aiming for 450,000. The current government is uncomfortable with that large an increase because they proved it was too much during the Syrian refugee influx last year.

And yes, they will all likely end up in Toronto and Vancouver because that's what the governments there want.

Canada has had a steady rate of around 250,000 people per year for decades.

We could easily handle 500,000 to 1,000,000 a year without even noticing a difference.

Right now, nearly as many Iranians come to Canada each year as Americans.

Immigration is a fact of life, of living on this planet. The world is a much smaller place than it used to be.

If people spent half the effort they do being NIMBYs, and instead tried being inclusive, accepting of others, and just being good neighbours... Christ, what a wonderful world it would be.
