Congratulations to Hillary Clinton for being elected to a second term!

I disagree. I think the Republican bench is deep. You've got both Ryans, Marco and Rubio who have long futures if they don't do anything incredibly stupid. Christie could hang around as well.

The Dems. . .after Hillary there is. . .essentially barren wastelands as far as the eye can do. The question is if they are wise enough to see that and work on elevating new blood.

Was Obama a known quantity in the US before he ran? I'm just some poor benighted foreigner but I had never heard of him before he became POTUS.

Anyway, you have a point, the next gen Dems have not been out there in the national spotlight as much yet. But they do exist. Dems need to start pimping people like Gillibrand, Booker, Castro and Klobuchar as spokespersons and figureheads for a few years and see if they catch on.

As well as keep them at a safe distance from the Clinton administration, so they don't get tarred with whatever scandals will eventually happen.

Yeah, Tromp has pretty much emasculated the whole GOP front bench. His base ain't their base and they have few options. Do they stay corporate and endure Trompster wrath? Do they go populist and lose the corporate money? What a pickle...

It's a name recognition / marketing issue. Dems need high-profile faces appearing on every page and screen, high-profile voices on the airwaves and audio streams.

And some of those will be Sanders people pushing anti-machine messages. IMHO the Dems are heading toward the same train wreck as the GOPs, a disconnect between the base and the donors / owners. HRC just barely squeezed by. Watch the fun -- the next few years will be interesting.

(Cf. the Chinese curse: may you live in interesting times.)

Sorry, I meant Cruz and Rubio. LOL. Sometimes my stupid pills kick in early.

No, Hardrom. Obama was not a known quantity. He was aberration. Not the sort of thing that I would be expect to come down and happen again.

Hypoxia hits on the painful paradox of modern politics. We have to elevate our candidates to a level where they are known outside their state. (I bet most of you can't name all the Reps from your state. And if you have fewer reps than Senators shut up that's cheating!) we also have to make sure they don't touch anything because really doing anything will tarnish you. An ideal Senator would have voted for nothing because he was too busy helping puppies in flooded states.

One word....demographics.

Such a simple word. But a word that all republicans continue to ignore. Why? Obviously there is only one answer....they are fucking stupid. My dog has more sense. He knows if he shits in the house he isnt getting any treats.

77% of chance the democrats take back the Senate....wonder how that will influence the SCROTUS nominations? Furthermore they are going to take enough seats in the House almost surely guaranteeing that they will be in control there after the 2020 election....and guess what that means stupid people? Thats right....Democrats will get the right to redistrict. All this because republicans are too stupid to understand one simple word and decided to nominate Donald Duck. Wow.

I very much doubt that evil bitch will get a second term. I'm still not totally sure she's gonna get a first no matter what the polls say because every single time everyone though that orange comb over douche was done he would come back even stronger.
Anyway, her evil will show once in office and it won't go away. The GOP will either find someone good enough to beat her or her own party will.

^^^ Good luck with that. Hillary is a completely run of the mill pol. America didn't blow up under Obama or Bush or Clinton so it won't under Hillary because she's not going to do anything any differently than they did. Least not on the broad strokes. A few months in we'll have the same bitching we had with Obama but nothing substantial. In four years it'll just be white noise.

That is actually something Republicans need to work on is not continually hammering away at Dems for every slight real and imagined. Just let it the fuck go. Because when you spend 4 full years very vocally investigating Hillary on Bengazi and emails and her husband and she's dying, it becomes impossible to take your new stuff seriously or even hear the legit complaints over the noise.

I'd love to see where you think we can even tie in the Senate cus I don't buy it.

Young folk and kids like her. And they will just get older and age enough to vote. In 4 years a lot more millenials will be of voting age.

Nobody actually likes her. They just like her more than Trump. Polls consistently show people mostly hate the bitch and don't trust her farther than they can throw her. She's just the best option right now. Might even be a good president. She has the chops for it.

Agreed. Though I can't help but think that a large chunk of her distrust comes from people actually knowing her and her having a record that can be called out.

One of my fears is that the pols may very well have learned that the key is to summon some kid nobody knows with no record to be called out on.

That's how McCain chose Palin.

If she wasn't pants on head retarded it would have worked. If he'd tapped Carly Fiorina we'd probably be at the end of the McCain presidency.

A die hard liberal SCROTUS that completely shits all over the 1st and definitely the 2nd amendment finally killing off the most pesky civil rights.
You mean a SCOTUS that doesn't see corporations (not born of woman) as people and money (taken from anywhere) as speech? Or a SCOTUS that considers the context of the 2nd amendment, which is to allow all citizens to bear arms in defense of our country in a well-regulated militia? That SCOTUS?

Al Franken, then?

I wanted to see a Sanders/Gabbard ticket this year.
If they'd won, which I'm sure they would have, more handily than Clinton likely will, Tulsi Gabbard would be a shoo-in for president in 2020.

If we get 16 years of back to back obama and hillary, there will never be another party elected let alone be allowed to exist. Hillary will finish the complete take over of the FBI, IRS, and DOJ that obama started to the point where our republic will cease to exist as we have known it. Well at least how I have known it the last 65 years. The media has stopped being the thorn in the governments side, forcing them to stay halfway on a even keel. They have thrown their lot in with the democrats and we, as a country, will more than likely will see less and less confronting of the government by the media. Say what you will about which side is the best, but I really feel sorry for my Granddkids. They will be living in a totally different country that I have had the good fortune to live in.

I wonder if there is a shortage of tinfoil at the grocery store....it seems tinfoil hats have become all the rage.

Yea but the USA is full of idiots and Clinton has them convinced hope and change is just around the corner LOL.

I think the Republicans will get their asses in shape for the next election and put up a candidate they can stand behind. I think many of them realize the three-ring circus with all the candidates earlier is PART of the reason Trump got to where he is. They'll make sure they're not embarrassed like that again any time soon.

Wishful thinking. We need a legitimate opposition party, and we have a catastrofuck. Donald Trump has shown the GOP field is a busload of lightweights, and the base is batshit crazy. He's made racism, misogyny, and stupidity even more mainstream in conservative politics, and the wannabes with aspirations for 2020 have shown themselves to be spineless opportunists.
