The Trumper List - See if the member you're talking to was / is one

btw, I was classically trained on Bb clarinet, a composers instrument.

I'm a Woodwinder.

There's no mention of "vote" or voting in the op.

An intentionally pedantic answer as you well know and deliberately answered as such as a form of deflection.

Carry on as you see fit, it's a free country.

But mark my words, we will all be sorry for what is happening one day in the very near future.

Because people who have learned the craft of trumpet playing, who believe that making music and adding beauty to the world, don't want to be associated with the Orange Monster.

Its funny you say that. Shaming people seems to be your hobby.

Do you mean fat chicks as an example? Why yes i do shame them. It's fun for me because I'm an asshole.

What does that have to do with the media attempting to use shame to manipulate the public into voting a certain way?

What does this have to do with media outlets dropping all pretense about being fair and impartial and going on the attack against a presidential candidate and his probable voters?

For instance, How does an asshole with a computer (me) possible compare to a supposed news/media outlet putting the following at the end of every article about Trump:

It's wrong to shame people for exercising their right to vote by selecting the candidate of their choice. You really can't see that? You can do it here all you want, but the media is now doing it, opening ridiculing citizens who aren't doing what they are told. That's downright sick. We will all regret this one day, but by then it will be too late. One day your candidate will be the one out of favor. Then you will understand.

I take your point. The media ridiculing ordinary people for exercising their rights is much like Trump ridiculing various ordinary people for speaking up against him.

No those aren't alike at all.

Trump can say whatever he wants, can ridicule people all he likes and we the public will vote accordingly. That is the way things are supposed to work. Candidate speaks, we judge, we vote. The end.

An impartial media should simply quote him and let us decide for ourselves. Ridiculing the public for not doing what the Editor in Chief of XYZ Nooz (really, the owners of XYZ Nooz) is fucked up.

I can't believe you don't see the difference and are A OK with this.

As I keep saying, one day we are all going to be very sorry for accepting this precedence. Today the media shames and ridicules people for supporting the wrong candidate. What will be next source of shame and ridicule from the press? Not supporting corporate tax breaks? Water rights? Having an abortion?

The premise that the media's job is to be impartial (as was pointed out before) is a false one. The media started in the United States with Thomas Jefferson buying newspaper space (and expanding circulation) to hurl insults at Alexander Hamilton and John Adams, who, in turn, paid other newspapers to hurl insults back--the types of really scurrilous insults that Trump is now moving into.

(Read Pasley's The Tyranny of Printers, for instance.)

We will put you down on the list people in favor of the media using shame and ridicule to manipulate public opinion. It's your prerogative to support that, but I strongly disagree.

The media is calling it like the media sees it. Donald mocking the disabled, donald being a douchebag to women, donald stealing money from people trying to attend his crap school, donald...

As usual, you can't read worth spit. I wasn't taking a position on what the media should do, I was destroying your myth of what it has ever done.

I don't really think you have the intellectual capability or emotional constraint and ability to be objective on any topic to entertain the notion of putting me down on much of anything. But that's just my opinion. ;)

(Oh, and I think that when you use the word "we," you aren't really looking around to see who's lining up with you. :D)

I think this hits it. If anything, the media gave Trump's boorishness a pass for far too long in this election cycle. If they'd called him more on his outrageous lying and crassness in the primaries, maybe we wouldn't be stuck with him now.

I have no problem with reporting actual events.

If you read my posts again, I have said over and over and over again that they should report the facts and let us decide. My problem is with ridiculing and shaming voters who intend to vote for Trump.

I have probably said that 5 times now. I don't know why you are deliberately and selectively skipping over my actual words when they are right here for all to see.

Exactly what are you trying to prove by doing that? What's your end game?

Please quote the point in which I wrote about the history of the press, my so called "myth of what it has ever done".

And if you don't think I have the intellectual capacity for this, then feel free to stop directing posts to me.

And in a democracy its people's right to support who they want.

But The OP demonstrates how this country is heading to no longer be a democracy because its wrong to vote for anyone they don't want to vote for. Hence this is a 'shaming' thread.

Shame is, this is important to him.

several months ago I would have put my name here. But he's gone too far off the reservation for me. I'll be voting for any indy that can get on the ballot.

Yeah, I got it. You do not like the media commentary on the donald. I do not like rush's commentary on everything he opens his mouth about. Both have the right to sing their song. Both are painting the opposition as idiots.

Maybe you are hyper sensitive because so much of the mainstream thinks trump is a piece of shit. A grand conspiracy? Fuck no. He is a piece of shit. He proves it each time he opens his mouth and goes commando. The media has been watching for months and are chiming in.

If donald would have listened to his campaign manager and the campaign manager before that, he would have toned it down and probably been in better shape today.

His choice. His mess.

You brought up an impartial media--something that doesn't exist, has never existed, was never designed to exist, and would never exist. No one can perceive events and then report on/summarize them without showing bias. It just can't be done. And you're naive to even refer to "impartial media." You have to read across the media spectrum and parse it yourself, with an understanding of the bias of the source--and even then, guess what, you won't come up with anything impartial, because you too (and me too) read/look at everything with your own bias. The best you can do is try to be objective by viewing reporting with an understanding of the bias of the source. And from your posts, I can tell that you make no effort to try to be objective about much of anything. So, I laugh at your use of "impartial"--and building any premise on it. :)D:D--me laughing)

And as far as Donald (as has already been noted on the thread), he bypasses the media and directly spouts his crap to you, using the media. If you can't get that, and somehow assume that the media is responsible for what he spouts, you are a lost soul.

So, you just find Trump supporter to be a convenient label to smear people that you don't like because they point out your character flaws such as your inherent racism.

It's interesting to me that Clinton sycophants, such as yourself...

^^^Trumper.

No freedoms have been stepped on, Mr. Drama. You obviously want safe spaces and political correctness. While your freedoms are intact, there's no room for those latter two here. In this thread, we tell it like it is, for the benefit of all.

several months ago I would have put my name here.

We all know you're a Trumper. Name added. :)

I'm at the top of the McCarthyism list!!

 No you aren't.

Funk is wasting her time trying to enlighten these dolts. Not that she doesn't already know that. We all waste time. It's unavoidable. We just choose how to waste it. Some of us choose to waste some of it here.

LadyFunk criticizing people for shaming others. That's fucking rich!

Trompers *should* be ashamed of voting for such a thuggish candidate. He's not only screwed investors, contractors, taxpayers, and his own family, and called for Russia to fuck with the election and political opponents to be assassinated. Now he's calling for his supporters to intimidate those who might not vote for him. Yes, Trompers should be ashamed. So should would-be Libertarians; Johnson was a do-nothing governor. Clinton voters may have to hold their noses to mark ballots for her, but Tromp and Johnson are in another fucking universe.

I agree. His core supporters are so deplorable that I see no reason why they should get any protections from criticism. I didn't consider anyone crazy for supporting the Bushes or McCain (if not for Palin, I would have considered voting for him at the time myself) or Romney. Those candidates had a rationale on why someone would support them. Not so with Trump. Anyone supporting him is beyond the pale in "getting it." I can understand the "stick it to those who have been in charge" feeling, but to think then that Trump was any answer to anything the nation needs is just downright idiotic. The only saving grace is that even his own party, if it maintains control of Congress, in consort with the bureaucracy is going to give him more opposition and boxing in than the Republican Congress has been giving Obama.

^^^^^^^ So much of this. I actually rather like Romney. My only real reason for supporting Obama over Romney boiled down that giving Republicans a president after the bullshit they had pulled in Congress felt a little too close to rewarding a child for holding their breath until they passed out.

You need to rethink who is the dolt in this scenario, 3b00b.
