My guess is that Machado turned him down for sex. My guess also is that many other Miss Universe contestants didn't turn him down for sex. My further guess is that Clinton's jab in the debate about him wanting to be close to beauty pageants was meant to goad him into attacking her connection with Bill Clinton's sexual indiscretions. He didn't fall into that trap in the debate, but the Machado issue took over at that moment and he took that one hook, line, and sinker and is still being reeled in on that.

I think the Clinton campaign has compiled a huge sex dossier on Trump, including depositions from beauty pageant contestants he's laid--along with a bunch of other stuff on his sexual past, including claims he raped a twelve-year-old and readings from his own book on his sexual past--and are just waiting for him to get more explicit on the Bill Clinton stuff and training to relate it to Hillary herself--and he's already moving into that. I don't think he can resist, despite the efforts his own staff are trying to make to keep him from going there. I cannot imagine that Clinton's campaign staff isn't primed for this one, which lands in the lap of a candidate himself, not a candidate's spouse.

The trap he's fallen into on that, Box--the one that highlights how inappropriate he would be as president--is that five days after the debate, that's what the man is tweeting about at night.

Go look at the debate coverage again. Clinton, in fact, was asked the e-mail question (Trump has asked why she wasn't. She was, and he could learn from how she handled it). She acknowledged it as something she shouldn't have done and wouldn't do again if she had to do that time all over again, although--and this is true--her predecessors in the age of e-mails and other government officials did pretty much the same thing. Now, folks don't really remember that the issue came up, because she apologized and slipped out from underneath it by baiting Trump about something else (and he took the bait and roared off rather than coming back at her on the emails).

When Machado came up, Trump could have blunted it (at least a little bit) by saying he wasn't running for any office then, he was a businessman with a lot of money invested in the Miss Universe contest, Machado was contracted not to gain a lot of weight, and he was holding her to her contract to fulfill his needs for Miss Universe's activities in the year she reigned. Then (since he's a congenital liar anyway), he could have challenged that he ever called her a Miss Piggy or a Housekeeper--and made someone make more out of that than a he said/she said.

Did he do that? No. Instead of going back to substance, he's spent the week making excuses for why he lost the debate (while declaring he won--when only an idiot who didn't watch the debate and was a Trump dupe would claim that in private) and he's spending his nights tweeting that Machado is promiscuous (like he has a leg to stand on on that one) and was fat as Miss Universe (like he has a leg to stand on about being fat, as well).

He's doing a fail as both a presidential candidate and an adult. And he's doing it to himself.

Now I already know you won't get this, Box, but it was so fun to write it that I went ahead and did so.

That's the whole reason the ambassador was caught there that day--he went there to find out what they were doing that he didn't know about. (B) Congress didn't appropriate the funds State requested to upgrade the security of that consulate and other U.S. facilities abroad. And (C) This is the sort of danger U.S. employees working overseas face all the time. 60 American government staffers died in embassy attacks during Bush the Lesser's administration and you're just too partisan to blame him for that. I certainly don't blame him for that.

In real world terms, the buck on Benghazi stops, first, at the terrorists who attacked the consulate (let's be real about who killed who), second, at the CIA team at the consulate (if I could finger State, I'd love to, but I can't in this instance--and I know of what I speak), third, the DDO at CIA Headquarters, fourth, the Republican-controlled Congress that didn't provide the requested funds to upgrade security at the consulate, fifth, if you need to get as far as State, the ambassador who was killed (for not being smarter about what was happening within his embassy), sixth, the regional undersecretary for the Mideast at State (since, although many folks here obviously don't know how this works, the Secretary of State doesn't perform every function in the department or know everything happening in every U.S. embassy in the world personally--this isn't a Tom Clancy novel).

What stirred up the hornets' nest in Benghazi wasn't the State Department. It was the CIA. And the CIA didn't tell the State Department why the hornets there might be stirred up. Many here just don't understand how U.S. activities abroad work themselves out--it's not as simplistic (or as partisan) as most posters here want to make it out to be.

Hillary Clinton did drop the ball on Benghazi, but it came after the attack and it involved activity reaching the public that is standard government operating procedure, regardless of the political party in charge at the time, but that is kept from the public for good security reasons. (Anyone who thinks the U.S. military could have swooped in and saved those people, incidentally, has no idea of the limits of U.S. coverage and response time needs abroad) She (and Obama) were too quick to blame the attack on a video. The reason why they were is that neither one of them was all that experienced in what goes on in the government's foreign affairs areas. They didn't know (or were government savvy enough to suspect) that CIA activities provoked the attack (because they were blindsided) and they assumed wrongly what did--and spoke of it before they did any checking. They should have checked better. Her real mistake, though, and it was a serious one, was in messaging anything about the attack to her daughter. Her daughter had no business knowing any of that. When I was in intelligence, I didn't tell my children anything about what I was doing. My parents, who were both spies, never told me anything about their operations.

Their mistake was saying too much too soon and being wrong. But sorry to have to break it to you, but governments--no governments--fully disclose everything about what really went on about anything like this. Operating in the world is not like running a convent and can't be--no other international entity is doing so. Keeping America safe as possible isn't a baseball game.

You presume incorrectly. Whatever happened in Benghazi is a tiny blip in her bloodthirsty trail of carnage.

The bottom line is that La Clinton is a war monger whose first instinct is to use military force to achieve what she perceives to be US ruling class interests.

'Regime change' operations like Libya, Ukraine and the ongoing carnage in Syria and Iraq can all be laid at her feet and those of her coterie.

Trump's tragic flaw is

He has a tremendous case of foot in mouth disease. His running off at the mouth without engaging his brain has alienated more voters than anything Clinton has done.
