What is your favorite inspirational song quote dealing with the afterlife?

Since I have a warped perspective of the world and all, I chose two song quotes that are kinda similar in aspect from two bands.

Slayer - "Before you see the light, you must die."
Metallica - " Take a look to the sky just before you die; It's the last time you will."

I'm sure there are more; let's hear them:) 👠👠👠Kant

Not exactly inspirational, but I always enjoyed "Jesus Christ" by Brand New.

...You're alright.

I don't think it deals directly with the afterlife itself, but "Wings For Marie" by Tool deals with the subject pretty well.

John Lennon, of course: LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS

Leonidas, on what turned out to be the last day of the battle of Thermopylae, encouraged his men to enjoy their breakfast, "for tonight we dine in Hades"

Swear there ain't no Heaven
And I'll pray there ain't no hell
But I'll never know by livin'
Only my dyin' will tell, yes only my
Dyin' will tell, oh yeah
Only my dyin' will tell

--- written by Laura Nyro, but the most famous recording is by Blood Sweat & Tears.

I met the Ghost of Stephen Foster at the Hotel Paradise!
This is what I told him as I gazed into his eyes:
Rooms were made for carpets,
Towers were made for spires,
Ships were made for cannonades to fire off from inside them!

The Squirrel Nut Zippers, "Ghost of Stephen Foster"

(Or, a bit more seriously...)

Sooner later gonna meet your maker
Oh yes sir, gonna meet Her

What you do between now and then
Gonna make it easy, gonna make it hard

Everything you’ve seen, everyone you’ve met
Some you can’t remember, some you can’t forget

Forever days or forever nights
Will it fade to black or will it fade to white

Sooner later gonna be your time
Maybe not today, but someday
Maybe not tomorrow, but someday

Zammuto, "Your Time"

(The lyrics are rather fatalistic but the song arguably isn't -- it's all in the delivery.)

I don't believe in an afterlife, but the song "The Perfect Space" by the Avett Brothers reflects my attitude toward living and dying:

"I wanna fit in to the perfect space,
feel natural and safe in a volatile place.
And I wanna grow old without the pain,
give my body back to the earth and not complain."

Swear there ain't no Heaven
And I'll pray there ain't no hell
But I'll never know by livin'
Only my dyin' will tell, yes only my
Dyin' will tell, oh yeah
Only my dyin' will tell

Yeah, ain't bad. Jim Morrison's lyrics for THE END ain't bad either. And one of my favorite underground comix series was TALES OF SEX & DEATH. Lots of good material there, almost as good as INSECT FEAR. But those aren't songs. LONG BLACK VEIL has a good tone. EA Poe set to music would work. Or how about GHOST RIDERS IN THE SKY?

Burl Ives original version to Ghost riders in the sky was awesome. The best cover version of the song I heard was by Spiderbait. I'm burned out on Johnny Cash's version:( Now, the Doors I can listen to all day long and never get tired of Jim Morrison's voice:)👠👠👠Kant

I am checking this out.

Next thing I remember, I was running for the door. I had to find the passage back to place I was before." Relax", said the nightman," we are programmed to receive. You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave!"

Not really about the afterlife, maybe more about dying, but I've always loved Mad World.
I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying were the best I've ever had

How about songs that inspire listeners to enter the afterlife as soon as possible? What songs make you think of committing suicide? Some of Morrissey, maybe? Lou Reed's HEROIN, for sure. I've read of Japanese and German songs that drove listeners to snuff it.
