I may have found the perfect place for me to live.
I hope you get it and it works for you. You need something really positiveNot sure yet. It's 3 minutes away, in a garage apartment set up like this, 1 bed room. I know the family and they know me. Her mom lived there for 15 years and just died last week. They need time to sort and clean then repair. Their time line is like mine. It comes with her mom's live inside kitty named Dixie which is cool. They want someone long term and no issues. They'd like me but I can only afford $600 a month which is half my income but $200 less then they could get with just opening it up to other people. So she called me and I've not seen it yet but even if it's a step up from here it's worth it. I'd be with people who I know but are not my close friends. I'd be safe and this couple works on the CERT team (citizen emergency response team).
I still would have to try the crowd funding to get deposits and once I'm in there I need to find a very part time job to have more then $200 for food all month.

You bring more to the table as a tenant than the extra money could be worth to them. You are stable and not destructive. Both very big pluses from a landlord standpoint.
I hope you get the place, and it's only part of things picking up for you.
UPDATES -
The new Physical Therapist is THE BEST one I've ever worked with. I've never hurt so much for doing such little kinds of exercises. Old School PTs just kept putting high weights on me and building up muscles where I didn't need to worry about it. This lady is building up the small muscles that help hold my shoulders in place. We are using a mix of old school PT, knowledge of the muscles & how my joints hyper flex and the newest things like the Kinesiology tape. AND IT'S WORKING!!!
Just found a back up on a place to live if things fall through on the place here locally. The place locally is about 3 minutes away by car. The back up place about 15 - 20 minutes with traffic. So that's a relief.
The packing is going slow. with no AC it gets to be around 90 - 100 degrees in here by 10:30 am. Just had one of my nurse team members bring her husband over to pull down things too high for me to reach any more & pull out stuff too heavy for me to lift. So now I am back to sorting, dumping, recycling, donating and packing again now that my first Fall Honor Flight mission is done.
Just finished setting up a crowd funding account to help raise deposits and moving expenses. It is thru a place called PlumFund which is designed for small goals to help raise money and it's free with a great consumer rating. Anything left from the deposits and moving expenses will go toward money for food down the line. This new place will costs me about $250 a month extra so I'll be back to needing gas money to drive veterans and living on about $150 a month for food.

I know it's seemed to be going slow but I've had so very little help. There was one "friend" who considers herself a picker wanted to get her hands on my stuff to sell & help me. Not going to happen. Anyone else whose offered just give me a yell for help has pretty much disappeared. So I'm keeping on task and trying not to get hurt moving anything.
So all in all some positive progress![]()
Many positives here, SN! I am glad to hear that things are on the up and up. Hopefully LIT will be generous and help you out a bit.
Stay well and take care of yourself!
sounds like your new place is going to work just fine for you. I am glad you were able to find it. Sorry the tear is not doing better though. Anything else that can be done to heal it?<sigh> The PT is sending me back to the ortho early. What we are doing that is working is REALLY working. The part that isn't working or improving is the tear in the bicep they didn't fix. That whole it will scar & you can use it thing really isn't happening. Right now they are all afraid I'll go grab another 18 pound turkey to deliver for Thanksgiving & snap the whole thing.
I got to see the new garage apartment. It's the same size as here (footage) but how it is laid out it's smaller in some areas & much larger in others. Here I work in the living room & have storage in the bed room. There the living room, dining room & kitchen are all in one area making them smaller then here... but the bedroom is huge compared to this place. So I will most likely work in the bedroom now. There is a walk in closet & a real dresser (I've never had those things ever)... they are also leaving me a large screen TV, (never had one of those before either) giving me cable & net too. So that savings will go as budget money towards food.
I'm really nervous cause this is closer to living like normal people do then I have in over 25 years.![]()
There is AC, Heat, real windows that close too. they think I'll be able to move in by Dec 1st.
The only thing I'd change out is that the bathroom access is on the far side of the apartment from the bedroom. Which means 2 am walks in the dark. I'll see if I can put a motion light or night light somewhere so I don't walk on the cat.

I'm so thankful for each of the friends who helped me get thru what has seriously been one of the most stressful, nasty years I've ever had. (I'm down 40 pounds and most my long braid) It takes a team and each of them has been there in some way. From feeding me/ shared leftovers , checking on me, sending me cards, funding projects or me, PMs, calls, texts or were here physically.
They ve helped me thru the shoulder tear, changing insurances, surgery, PT, getting food in, trash out, showers, braiding my hair to keep it out of the way. Helped handle the stress of the crapy neighbor up front, no AC, the almost finished move with dumping, sorting, gifting half my life. To pack and move after 25 years here has been horrible.
The move is on for Dec 4 & 5. Losing a few close friends this year hit VERY hard, one especially too hard. I may get quiet just sharing out other posts, but one of them will always pop up to check on me. NEVER think I'm not grateful for any of their help in my life.
Been following your saga....hang in there Starry....things will improve, hopefully!![]()
