Agreed. The thing is, it's not just a question of what type of RP you're into, but also a question of personality and chemistry (or lack of it).

You could do everything right and still find yourself having a terrible time RPing with somebody as they're just not on the same wavelength at all. And that's where the threads come in - you get a rough idea of what people are like.
