Time Magazine covers.

In my youth, there were two periodicals which featured really good, well-printed pictures. Time Magazine and the Illustrated London News.
I mourn their passing, even if it was "London" and me nowhere near that city.

I mourn the passing of good journalism in general. I'm sure it is still out there, in places, but it is hard to find.

How very true.
We used to have a very good newspaper (national) called "the Independent" who's news was concise and understandable.

I now get one called "i" which is a tabloid and is brief and to the point.
It does not seem to pander to the "celeb" culture (what a word to use), but if it says there are 200 dead in a bomb blast or a tzunami, there's a good chance that God has another 200 souls queuing up outside the Pearly Gates.

But the thing that struck me particularly about the 'News and Time was the high-contrast pictures; they were hard-hitting and damned good; none of this selfie or phone pics.
There are two that really stand out, for me.
One is of a Milkman (when we had suck a thing), delivering his milk amid tons of bricks following an Air Raid on the city; there he is, carrying on as requested by the King, amid total chaos.
The other is of a Postman collecting the mail from the pillar Box in the middle of the carnage following another Air Raid.

I wish I could take pictures like that.
