I was born and raised into a Catholic family, but I haven't been inside of a church in nearly 20 years and now consider myself an agnositc.

What I do remember about Catholic mass is the preacher preaching about damnation, and fire and brimstone.

The entire mass was literally just "fuck you and you're all going to hell!" in a nutshell, and nothing positive and uplifting was said.

Are there any other denominations of Christianity that preach a positive message instead of just pure damnation?

You have never been to a Southern Baptist church. lol Catholic mass is way more uplifting and shorter. Best of luck on your hunt.

I'm calling BS. There isn't any of that in a catholic mass.

LOL that would be a great short sermon. And yeah, I'd call BS too. Catholic masses are very light on the damnation, if it appears at all. It's mostly pure ritual, with small variations during the readings. The whole sermon part is maybe five minutes long unless you get a determined priest. Then, the watch checking and "waiting for the damn donuts and coffee" stares usually hurry them along.

Pure common sense, boy that’s the thing that you lack. Just cause it’s published in a book, it doesn’t mean it’s a fact. Now listen, cause man we wasn’t allowed to read on them plantations. 300 years, had my people growing impatient. Wanting to know what’s in that Bible and they can’t take it. Now let me tell you ‘bout the plan of a damn racist. Let’s teach these niggas love who hate ‘em so they can’t say shit
Whoever hits you, turn ya cheek, so they can’t face it. Edit the Bible before you show it to these L7’s, And this the shit that y’all buying? And clientele selling. Your mind, still, is a slave, that’s how they jail cell it. This is America people, I call it Hell’s Heaven

There are a variety of what are often referred to as 'prosperity gospel' churches. A prominent one here in Houston, TX is "Lakewood Church", whose pastor is Joel Osteen. From my p.o.v., their message is quite the opposite of the one you are complaining about. They televise the sermon part of their services, you might find one in your TV listings. Osteen's message is always quite uplifting and encouraging.

I do think there is a place for the Church to call attention to the basic problems of humanity, and sin is one of them. Of course, not everyone will agree on how to approach the subject, and discussions of religion are generally among the least profitable topics in public forums. If you doubt that sin exists, suggest you read William L. Shirer's book "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" sometime. I recently re-read it, and it still reminds me of what kind of horrors humans can visit on others.

Peace, friend...
