unless there's a battery or cord attached to that magnum, i'm not interested.

So, apparently—I'm just now finding out some months late—Disney is making a Prydain movie. I would say another one, but I don't think the first one really is one.

I'm not sure whether I should be optimistic about it or not; but, coincidentally, I was just thinking about how best to make one yesterday. I gave up after trying to figure out what to do about Gurgi. I hope they'll have better luck.

Animated or live-action?

The Black Cauldron joint from back in the day in '85 when Don Bluth's style used to run the ship is sort of a low-tier classic, I suppose.

It doesn't surprise me that in an almost decade of from-LOTR-to-GOT success in popular media fueling more fantasy adaptation minings looking for another hot score, that it's getting made. That particular series is a childhood fave of mine, so I have no complaints.

Not all these epic fantasy efforts turn out like they want, though. *koffkoffERAGONkoffkoff* ;)

I don't know. I'm not even sure if they've decided. From what I read, all they've said is that they're going to adapt it and have an executive assigned in charge of production, but something makes me think live action. I hope so.

My feelings about The Black Cauldron film are basically the same as Lloyd Alexander's: it has nothing to do with his books, but I actually kind of liked it on its own.

I'm almost surprised they didn't do it sooner, for the reasons you mention, but perhaps the lukewarm reception of the Narnia films deterred them a bit.

That last part is my worry, though. I have fond childhood memories of the series. I'd like a good adaptation, but I'm not confident one will happen.

So, I'm confused. Is it that the idea of dunking a Jaffa cake in coffee or even milk so repulsive to you or any donut in general? A Jaffa cake is a cake with orange and chocolate in it?

If material being dunked is of too soft a consistency. You get those disgusting soggy bits at the bottom of your cup or glass. May have started as yummy cake and ends up slimy grossness sliding into your mouth with last swallow of drink.

Thanks for clearing that up. I agree that would be annoying. Like dunking a cookie in milk and having half of it fall in. Having a drink WITH cake is another story. Damn.....now I want cake!

I have a book with lots of post its stuck inside, marking quotes that struck me as I read. It'll be fun to take each one out and reread what touched me, spoke to me.

I love the written word.

Mildly hot, addictive, medium peppers for Greek salads. It has been very difficult for me to resist eating these as fast as I put them up. They are the star of the year from my 2013 garden. I will pickle as many as I can, give very few away, and grow Pepperoncinis again next year!

You got that right!

At the beginning of August I canned a gallon of the little bastards, and just ate the last one. I need an intervention.

All these little pieces of our lives thrown into a giant metal dumpster. I'm not super sentimental about near anything so this is cathartic for me. I enjoy purging the unneeded in our lives. Quality, not quantity. And certainly not 3 years of math tests. Why did he save those???
