When writing or reading a story what words do you hate to see or use.
ie. arse, ass, cunt, pussy,
Any other examples you might have.

I don't really like seeing the word cunt in a sexual context.

It's not that I dislike the word. I'm actually pretty fond of it. It's a fantastic word. I just don't find it sexy in most cases.

I refuse to buy any book with MLK's name in it. Gandhi comes a close 2nd.

Any word that, during an anal sex scene, describes that orifice's primary function in its terminology.

Shitter, shit/turd cutter, shitbox, shit chute.

I have run across authors who made the very unfortunate choice of doing this. I get that anal is adventurous, a deviation from the norm. I don't want to be reminded of what a butthole is really for. Call it an asshole, an ass, a pucker, a balloon knot, brown eye, but start delving into similar vocabulary as listed above and I...I can SMELL that. Stop it.

There isn't any that I can think of that I don't want to see. What drives me crazy, even in my own writing, switch that especially in my own writing, repetition of the same word. Even pronouns and names. I end up going back and changing sections in the story to lessen the use of "he" and "she"

This pretty much encapsulates why I don't read anal.

For me, "gash" and "mound" tie for least favorite.

But also, any word that doesn't fit with the tone of the story, especially when it comes to anatomy. If I'm reading about a twenty-something girl in this century, and she calls her vagina something like "thatched cottage," it's incredibly distracting.

When I'm writing, my rule is that if I can't say it with a straight face, my characters aren't saying it.

I hate all the words for a woman's crotch, and yes I even hate crotch. There is just no good word to use!

I dislike using the word cunt. In my latest storyline I actually came across a perfect situation where the word has a use in the story. I used it to stir anger and resentment within my main character Ashleigh

EXCERPT from "A Slut's Triangle"

"I thought you and Brenda would be fucking each other by now." Kryss badgers from the living room, assuming my new text is from Brenda as well. "She's a manipulative little fucking cunt." Kryss warns, verbally insulting my best friend.

"She has never done me wrong." I defend, cutting my eyes at Kryss, following him into my bedroom; suspicious.

"Trust me, Ashleigh. If you let the fucking bitch in your head, she'll have you believing you're a lesbian with a delusional hatred for cock." Kryss continues, downing Brenda with his cruel, stereotypical words; angering me to no end.

That is the one and one situation where the word has worked it's way into the stories I write. It might take 15-20 years before I find a different situation to use the word in one of my stories again.

Beyond that, I absolutely detest and refuse to read any story with racial slurs in them.

The words "cooed" followed by "muse."

Those are the two words that I wouldn't mind never seeing again.

I hate the word lay, laid, lie. Not that there is anything wrong with it, it just trips me up when I try to write it. :D

I hate reading words that are wrong for context or meaning. Reading accept when it should be except or to when they mean too or also.

Other than that, words are words and it seems silly to hate them.

Don't hate the words, hate the writer

In some cases it's the context when the word is used...

I dislike "cunt" but have used it in stories. Usually, it's a female character using it. I have never had a male character use it, except if the type of person he is would use it.

As for other words mentioned...I have no aversion to using them if the context would call for them to be used.

It's about the right word for the right situation.

Moan/moaning/moaned.

There is nothing wrong with the word except I over use and it seems many others do as well.

But....there don't seem to be a lot of options. Groaned, sighed, 'soft sounds of pleasure' but moaning is a big part of sex so it fits, but it can get overdone easily.

I'm not good with bitch or cunt for a female, and if a male character used cunt it would be to make a point about what an asshole he is. I don't have a problem with other derogatory terms; bitch just smacks of bestiality to me and cunt just somehow got tagged as going too far. I don't like it as a name for a vagina, either: cunt lips, cunt jiuce, both have me closing stories. I'm fine with slit and pussy.

Penis is a total turnoff.

things that are just simply put, stupid.

Love pole, one eyed snake, trouser snake, steamy love tunnel.

And a big peeve, anyone who cums by shooting 'thick ropes of semen."

"pussy." I think it's childish and denotes a bubble headed character.

Is 'thick ropes of come' ok?

I'm a fan of the visual ;)

I use "cunt" frequently because it matches nicely with "cock", another favorite of mine. I dislike most alternatives. Pussy is just a funny word to me and it sounds too childish to be a turn-on. Penis and vagina are too clinical most of the time.

Slit often sounds more demeaning to me than cunt. A slit just seems like an object without a person attached. I only use it when I need to be specific.

Agreed on moans. I love when characters do it. I don't like that there aren't many ways to describe that noise. Sometimes I let the moan go unwritten and let the reader assume noises are happening.

Only difference is people don't call people a slit:D

The word "sex" when using it for male or female parts. He lowered his hand down and cupped her hot wet sex, instant turn off. I think all words have their time and place, it just depends on how you use them.

I guess I've heard it too often in the friendly way to take offense to it. Being called a cunt doesn't bother me as much as being called a bitch, and even that doesn't get under my skin.
