Mylan CEO Heather Bresch goes down in flames defending $16M pay raise and EpiPen price hike
Mylan Pharmaceuticals CEO Heather Bresch is desperately trying to control the public relations disaster created by her company’s decision to jack up the price of the life-saving EpiPen drug by 450 percent over the past 12 years.
In an interview with CNBC on Thursday, Bresch insisted that “no one is more frustrated than I am” about the price increase, which she said was necessary to cover all the marketing and distribution costs that are needed to make the drug more widely available.
“We’re manufacturing the product, distributing the product, enhancing the product, investing,” she explained. “When we took over this product eight years ago, there was very, very little awareness. We have doubled the lives of patients who are carrying an EpiPen. We have passed legislation in 48 states to allow undesignated EpiPens to be in schools.”
Her father is a Senator.

EpiPen maker’s stock value plunges nearly $3 billion as investors panic
Over the course of her tenure at the company, Bresch — daughter of U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) — raised her own salary 617 percent and conducted an offshore reincorporation of Mylan, Inc. under the Netherlands’ looser corporate laws, but maintained the company’s headquarters and operations in the U.S.. This practice is known as “inversion” and it has become a popular way for U.S. companies to lower their effective tax rate while continuing to enjoy all the market rights and privileges of companies conducting all of their business domestically.

No, EpiPen did not lower their drug price — they pulled a sneaky ’Pharma bro’ trick instead
Bresch said the company had offered coupons instead of cutting the cost because insurance companies and pharmacy benefit managers were also involved.
Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and members of Congress called on Mylan to lower the price, and a bipartisan group of lawmakers have called for a congressional investigation.
Bresch, daughter of U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), said she hopes to meet with lawmakers to discuss drug pricing.
Please pass this all over the social networks amd hold Hillary to pressing the face of Greedy Pharma into the shit. A grass roots program of pressing this issue hard is really needed to force the DC Beltway to address this issue once and for all.
What with Greed, Political influence and corruption involved it is an ideal subject to force a change for progress.
