Justice League: The New Wave (OOC - Interest Check)

I must apologize for being MIA for so long. Unfortunately I have been trying to give birth for the past little while and am now on some nice pain killers. Forgive me if my writing suddenly gets a bit silly.

Yes I am trying to pass a kidney stone and the silly thing is being rather stubborn. Oh to have the powers of Velocity to massage the damn thing into oblivion. Of course Black Canary would be even better :)

IRL is always gonna be IRL, sad but true.

I hope you feel better soon! Here's hoping Ray Palmer takes a swim in your system and gives that thing a punch!

But don't fret overmuch about the wait, I was on limited downtime for a few days, so I only just replied to Velocity yesterday.

When you can, okay? NBD.

I have a scene to fill the gap between Raven showing up before we shove on. I was thinking of having Kiz do a little Q&A with the Rogues. I'll write something up tonight to kick it off.

Right now I am getting ready to go to Namibia where I will have no internet. Going to go put my grandfather to rest who passed away earlier this week. I have no idea how long I will be gone.

God bless, TH.

I'm desperately sorry for your loss.

Take all the time you need. :heart:

This thread is kickin' pretty, I'm happy to say.

So far so good!

Were you thinking of joining in?

I hate when I work almost as much on my days off as when I'm working. But if anyone wants to do any writing with Nightwing, the lovable smartass, should be available today.

Might just. What's the team need? I can be flexible.

Here's what we have so far:

The New League

A1: The Leader - Aquaman
A2: The Lancer - Nightwing
A3: The Big Gun - Wonder Girl
A4: The Lightspeed - Velocity
A5: The Phoenix - Martian Manhuntress
A6: The Chameleon - Renegade
A7: The Ironheart - G.R.I.D.
A8: The Night Errant - Ghost Rider
A9: The Wild Card - Hotline
A10: The Ranger - Green Arrow
A11: The Warded Man - Void Binder
A12: The Tesla - Static
A13: The Dark Angel - Raven
A14: The Animorph - Beast Boy
A15: The Mightiest Mortal - Captain Thunder
A16: The Talented Tenth - Rocket

I was going to cap The New Justice League at 16, but for you I can definitely make an exception.

Please note that this doesn't include NPCs and supporting casts and so forth, I've been meaning to expand the roster to touch on all of those but it's a fairly daunting task and I've been focusing on keeping the IC going as strong as I can.

I do suggest, if you get time and inclination, to read through the OOC and the IC both to get a sense of continuity and world-building, though I understand if you can't because they're both quite a haul at this point.

The bottom line is: we exist on Earth-1 of a 52(plus)-Earth Multiverse. This world's Justice League, veteran A-List heroes and first line of defense, mysteriously vanished in its entirety about a month ago in-game, right before the start of January 2016. Nobody knows where they could have gone or how they disappeared, and they could very easily be dead and/or never coming back. On top of this, all of Earth's Green Lanterns are off in space on a separate, desperate mission (except Guy Gardner, who got court-martialed, has no Ring, and just got his Vuldarian "Warrior" powers; and Jessica Cruz, who in this world is newly-recruited "Teen Lantern" with a training Ring and a Titans membership).

Criminals have become aware of The League's absence, and chaos and crime rates are simmering ever higher.

It's now the very beginning of February '16, and Lex Luthor has formed a New Justice League from a bunch of heroes that saved Metropolis from a raving, possibly amnesiac, naked, Vathlo Kryptonian male of indeterminate backstory. There are a few trained sidekicks on this team, Titans, but much of the membership is composed of newbies and b-listers who are finding themselves required to step up to fill the void left by the original Justice League.

The current in-game Event has the forces of Kobra attacking every major city in North America via teleportation from within a shielded dome over the Midwestern Gem Cities of Keystone and Central. As this has affected a number of other heroes who are joining the fray, a new influx of power and versatility has allied with The New League and when this enemy is defeated the intent is that many of the survivors will also swear in to The New League as official members.

Presumably, your character could also be in one of these major cities affected by this attack and could join our heroes under the dome to stop Kobra, or you could stay and defend your home city and join The New League later on, totally your choice.

Nubian_Legend, the initial thread creator, had a "wish list" of archetypes he wanted The New League to include, and we've filled that list and then some. I feel like we've got every major category of superhero covered. But this leaves you open to come up with ideas of your own that we can see if we can make fit into this timeline by hook or blessed crook so that Varshanka and I can approve it.

While I know you really love playing heroic members of The Sinestro Corps, I can tell you that I have plans for that group... and you could conceivably play a member of that Corps after the third/fourth event arc, but not yet. Sorry to disappoint in that regard. :/

The main thing is to keep your character b-list or c-list or d-list... newbies, former sidekicks, OCs are all encouraged... there's even limited room for crossover characters but only if you can suitably fold the character into a DC-themed continuity, as have our Velocity and Ghost Rider players, among others. You should be from this Earth/Universe, probably this time period, and while I'm obviously cool with antihero types joining the fray you should be mindful that this is an ensemble piece and your character should be flexible enough to work with the team under these conditions.

Any thoughts?

Actually I do. A How about The veteran. Thea Knight, The Wildcat? Or maybe a Starfire?

Actually I do. A How about The veteran. Thea Knight, The Wildcat?

Any relation to the Knight family of Starmen, and Ted "Wildcat" Grant?

While I don't believe this world had a Justice Society as such, I'm open to the idea of there having been individual super-heroes in vintage days, so Thea could be an heir to one or more of their legacies.

(Alix "Bulleteer" Harrower is a supporting cast-member, and her thematic attire was inspired by The Human Bullets of WW2, for instance.)

Color me intrigued!

Work up a profile based on this pattern and then we can hash out any details or contradictions.

Alter Ego - What is your character's "everyday" name?

Alias - What is their "super" name?

Age - How old is your character?

Appearance - What does your character look like? picture, Description, or both you decide.

Personality - What is your character like?

Gear (optional) - What items do they carry on them?

Power/ability - What does your character posses?

Weakness - Any weaknesses?

Bio - History of your character? (You decide on the length.)

Notes - Additional info? (Song, favorite color, ect.)

Aptitude & Powers

Intelligence
x/100

Strength
x/100

Speed
x/100

Durability
x/100

Power/Energy Projection
x/100

Combat
x/100

Intellect - self-explanatory.

1 = Solomon Grundy go ARRR
100= Cosmic Braintrust

Strength
1-25= 1- 25 is peak human (Batman)
25-40= Class 2- 20 tons, enhanced to base superhuman (Cyborg)
40-60= Class 20-60 tons is beast-like super strength (Hawkman)
60-90 = Class 60-100 ton (Aquaman)
90-100= Class 100+ ton Immeasurable god-like strength (Superman, Captain Marvel, New Gods, Hercules)

Speed
1-25= peak human (Usain Bolt)
25-40= enhanced to base superhuman (faster than a Ferrari- 230 mph)
40=60= Sonic speed (768 mph)
60=80= Super-sonic (915-3,806 mph)
90=100= Ultrasonic and Beyond(>16,250)

Durability
1-25= Tough as nails (Wildcat)
25-40=Harder than Rock (Brick)
40-60=Harder than Steel (Cyborg)
60=80=Harder than Diamonds (Superboy)
90=100=Nigh-Invulnerable God (Doomsday, Plastic Man)

Power (How much energy/damage you can potentially output, can be through magic technology or other means)
1-25= Man-slayer (Blockbuster)
25-40=Mob-slayer (Mountain buster)
40-60=Army-slayer(Town-City Buster)
60-80=Titan-slayer(Nation Buster to Planet Buster)
90-100=God-slayer(Multi-Planet buster to Galaxy)

With Intellect and Combat, 90 is peak human, anything above that to 100 is exponentially superhuman.

The rating system is a little hinky, but we can fiddle with that once you have your initial thoughts down.

Writers rust. I had meant Grant and I am thinking of Wildcat more as in the Arrowverse version..... The one who trained Laurel.......

An older mixed MMA broad with a few extra tricks up her sleeves.

:cool:

Concept pitch successful.

No rush on working out your profile, take your time banging the rust off if you need to, but I can't wait to see what you come up with.

If there's any contradictions or whatever in your first draft, Var and I will help you sort them.

More along the lines of Sneezy fem....... frag everything gets in my way..... She was still going to be "The Veteran"....... Vril Dox can jade even the most innocent......

...if you'rethinking of including Brainiac stuff in your bio, you might want to read up on G.R.I.D. in the above roster.

I would be open to a female Lobo, heh, but you'd have biker competition from Ghost Rider.
