'SNL' star Leslie Jones' personal site offline after hacking

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Leslie Jones, the black "Saturday Night Live" and "Ghostbusters" actress-comedian, is again the target of racist and sexist online attacks.

Jones' personal site was taken offline Wednesday after it appeared hackers posted explicit photos of Jones and her driver's license and passport. The hackers also appeared to have inserted a video of deceased Cincinnati Zoo gorilla Harambe and images of Jones posing with such stars as Rihanna, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West.

A spokesman for Jones didn't respond to messages Wednesday seeking comment. And Jones hasn't posted about the incident on social media.

Several celebrities supported Jones on social media Wednesday following the incident. "Ghostbusters" filmmaker Paul Feig called it an "absolute outrage," while "Girls" star Lena Dunham asked followers to "turn our anger at trolls into love for Leslie Jones and into strategies to protect all the heroines who don't deserve this (expletive)."
One of these days one of these hackers is gonna get shot.

One could always wonder why nude photos exist of her and where they came from.

They are obvious nude selfies sent to a lover. I saw them.

She, like other stupid people, don't understand cloud backups.

Now that Google is pushing cloud backups too, we will start to see even more illicit nudes. :nana:

Since when does ICE/DHS investigate computer hacking when it doesn't implicate national security?

Doesn't that usually fall into the hands of the FBI or even local/state law enforcement?

In late 2014, the entire Apple icloud database got hacked and naked photos of several hundred female celebrities were leaked to the internet. ICE/DHS did not get involved in the case, and the hacker got off relatively lightly having been sentenced to only 5 years in prison.

It's just the federal government's top enforcement agency now - Homeland Security - leading the way to what's straight-ahead:

The Coming Free Speech Apocalypse
There is a good chance American enemies of American free speech will shortly mount a sustained and successful effort to drastically reduce American speech freedoms.

http://thefederalist.com/2016/08/22/the-coming-free-speech-apocalypse/

These celebrity cases are simply low-hanging fruit for the feds to once more firmly entrench their justification for erecting itself as supreme decider - over even actual law.

Eg: why are celebrities, even federal govt employees, more worthy of Homeland Security protection and defense than any non-celebrity, non-federal govt employee citizen?

Instead of intentionally, perpetually keeping cleanly washed-and-respectfully pressed Lady Justice's blindfold (after so, so many years of flagrant injustice), the federal government of the USSA today still dictates that it is both the commander of the Constitution and her unbiased judgement...

...obviously, with such tyrannically oligarchical, top-down, anti-American governance, the lemmings at the top - and those nearer to the perceived top (ala celebrities) - will be those who will first be served the luxury of USSA-style "justice", while ordinary lemmings are expected to just shut up and keep paying their taxes for the pleasure of goosestepping toward the cliff.

America's computer crime law, the computer fraud and abuse act (CFAA) was written and enacted in 1986 and was intended to protect government, military, and commercial computer systems against malicious intrusions capable of causing millions of dollars in damage, leaking sensitive financial data, classified information, or compromising national security.

Those are legitimate applications of the CFAA, but unfortunately today, the CFAA is predominately used by prosecutors to AGGRESSIVELY prosecute very low-level computer hacking and mischief, threatening first-time offenders with decades-long federal prison sentences for trivial things such as successfully guessing the password of their roommate's facebook account, or looking through their significant other's smart phone texts without their knowledge/permission because they suspect them of cheating.

Reddit founder and computer innovator Aaron Schwartz was facing 50 years in federal prison under the CFAA for a trivial computer crime and ended up committing suicide before being convicted, believing that he was going to spend the rest of his life in prison. You can read about his heartbreaking story in the following link.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...rtz-remains-unchanged-a-year-after-his-death/

Today, the crony capitalist US government refuses to make common sense changes/limitations to the CFAA because of the financial interests of various tech-based corporations. A bill known as "Aaron's law" was introduced to congress that would amend the CFAA but was quickly struck down.

Anyone still thinking that nude selfies are a good idea at any point in time...

... is probably going to die impoverished no matter how much money they make at first.

Despite countless high-profile celebrity nude photo hacks/leaks, celebrities still continue to take nude pictures of themselves and upload them to online storage.

It's partly their fault if they get leaked because they should never exist in the first place.

It is ALL their fault.

And it's ALL our fault...

...for allowing the USSA federal government to maintain that everyone's digital communications are somehow "public", that the government has the "right" to surveil, record, and store it all because it is "public" in their Orwellian eyes, whether it's in words or pictures (think about all the "public" surveillance pictures of individuals the feds are mass accumulating to feed their insatiable facial recognition algorithms).

The draconian USSA federal government deems the 4th not to apply to what is unquestionably still our inalienable right "to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures..."

What's especially hilarious is that they violate our individual space(s) tenfold more than these crackers they love to publicize they're going to prosecute for the very same, invasive crimes.

It's always good practice to focus lemmings' attention as much as possible elsewhere while you're so fascistly fucking them up their butts...

Our domestic surveillance network is the federal government's way to identify political dissidents and subversives. In actuality it has absolutely nothing to do with stopping crime or terrorism.

The secret police in East Germany (Stasi) did this to literally every single citizen.

Totalitarianism can only be held in power through means of repression.

America is a quasi-democratic corporatocracy.

I read that last line as:

America is a heap-big pile of crap
.

Gotta love all of the victim blaming sprinkled in amongst all of the conspiracy nut fodder in this thread. I see our resident cyber stalker and conspiracy theorist is all up in arms over his ilk getting smacked down like the criminals they are.

I wouldn't have given this story much thought.
(nothing new: another celebrity being cybertrolled by mentally disordered assholes. Being black, they hurled racist slurs at her. If she were white, they'd call her white trash or other lovelies),

But - as LJ mentioned - the fact that they posted a photo of her passport and driver's license seems quite ominous. Like an open invitation to all the haters or criminals out there.

Especially criminals. These people are TRYING to get her killed.

Gotta love all of the victim blaming

Victims more often than not play a direct role in their victimization.

Sorry, harsh reality and tough shit for the special snowflake crowd who thinks nothing is ever anyone's fault.

Every single year a female celebrity gets hacked and sexually explicit photos of them appear on the web.

If they don't want this to happen, then maybe they shouldn't take such pictures to begin with.

It is an inherently dumb thing to do.

You put it more bluntly, but I was thinking in a similar line.
They posted her personal info (passport details and so on) for a reason, so that haters could make use of it. They want harm to come her way, either her identity stolen or violent acts.

Scary stuff. I hope that Police are looking into it.
