Are presidential candidates just too old?

Are they just out of touch?

From the Washington Post-

How rich is it that the 70-year-old Republican presidential nominee with a heart-stopping fondness for taco bowls and fried chicken is questioning the health of his 68-year-old Democratic opponent?

I have very mixed emotions about this. Wisdom comes with age but then it also leads to a disconnect. What is society doing right now versus what you remember 20 years ago. Politicians seem to get in a bubble based on what was important when they were elected.

I know some or you will say my guy is on the cutting edge but are they really dealing with the what are the modern issues right now.

Look on the bright side ,when they leave office there is a smaller SS bill since they will die sooner than someone in their 40's .

Hey now they have been eligible for at least 5 years. I wonder if either of them are collecting it. Enquiring minds want to know.

Yes. They are far too old.
Young blood is needed desperately.
A teenage president will do wonders.

I think they're both too old for the job, yes. I think the "out of touch" is another issue. Both are out of touch, I think--Trump out of touch with Earth and Hillary Clinton having lived in a politically privileged bubble for so long that she has gotten herself into trouble involved with "out of touch" with propriety.

Like rupture the Constitution that requires the president to be 35 at election. I remember the 1968 Democratic Convention, when Julian Bond was ecstatic upon being nominated for president--until a reporter informed him he wasn't old enough to run yet.

Yeah, but it's just a bit of paper. It can be changed.
Back when it was written I'm surprised that there were many people fitting into that category, given how dying before you were 30 was fairly common.

I doubt it would be changed. Folks over 35 understand that teenagers don't know a tenth of what they think they know. You don't gain life experience by osmosis or assumption.

You're sort of sounding under 18. Hmmmm.

And yet I doubt most presidential candidates of recent years know how to use the Facebook or the Twitters, which are far more relevant things these days than what the old fools are screaming about at their rallies.

Trump has shown anyone coming behind him the effectiveness of using it, and Hillary's supporters aren't behind the times in using it either. Bernie's supporters weren't either. Some of the Republican contenders were deficient, though. I think you've missed the curve on that particular issue. That boat's already sailed.

Those are the supporters though, not the actual candidates themselves.
They'll have teams of people, most of whom will be in their early 20s to handle the social media side of things.
I doubt Trump could even tell you who his favourite Twitch streamer is.

Excuse me. As I say, I think you don't know a tenth of what you think you do. And again, are you old enough to be posting on Literotica?

No, you said teenagers don't know a tenth of what they think they do.
Which had neither anything to do with being out of touch (which was the question in the original post) or anything to do with me.

We could take a different stance on the 'out of touch' view if you want.
Do either Trump or Hilary know how much a pint of milk costs? No, because they have people that buy it for them.
You can't help but be out of touch when you live in a bubble, surrounded by people that do everything for you.

Since I think you're probably a teenager (both your posts and your avatar scream that), I'm on the beam with that. ;)

I'm a teenager because I like anime?
Sounds like an out of touch way to look at the world.
I can see why you're in favour of dinosaurs for president.

Habu is showing his teeth! Well, his new teeth.

The candidates are too old. Yeah, old and wise. Big fucking deal. Old and out of touch. Rachel has a good point with the cost of milk. I remember a clip of bush being BLOW AWAY with the little red light at the grocery store register. The same magical red light that had scanned products for years for anybody else that actually had to *shock!* purchase food for themselves.

To get in the race you need money or power. Sometimes skin color or gender can work in your favor. America never gets the best ones for the job. America also does not get stuck with prince charles and his inbred family.

Apparently you can't (and, like a teenager, won't bother) see all that well. I've already posted that I think the current candidates are too old. 35 is certainly not too old except in the mind of a child, though--speaking of which . . .

Thanks for taking such an interest in me as to have found out the name I publish under.

Note my first post to the thread saying that I think the current candidates are too old to be running. It's so easy to run your mouth without actually reading the thread.

Each presidential candidate should be required to be working in a minimum wage job while trying to support a family with a minimum of two kids.
