Hi Everyone, first post on here so be gentle! ;)

I've entered a submission and am worried I may have picked the wrong category, however, there doesn't seem to be any way to change it now it's gone through the approval process. Is it now set in stone or can I change it somehow?

Also, very gratified but slightly confused to see that despite just being released today, it's already got over 600 views according to the admin page, however, when you look at the work as is on the site, states 10 views.......while it would be awesome to think its had over 600, the realist in me thinks the 10 is more likely?

A change in category you would have to take up with laurel, one of the site owners and the one who vetts, more or less, all the submissions. Easiest way to do that is in a PM (Private Message). Make sure and have a link to the story and what category you think you want to change to and a short note as to why. Usually, she moves stories to other categories at posting if she thinks they are in the wrong one.

Your control panel usually has the most up to date numbers. Different parts of the site update at different times. According to the category, 600 views is not a large number. 500 to a thousand views an hour are possible in some of the more popular cats.

A view doesn't mean a read. It just means someone clicked on the story.

I had to change the category for my contest entry (made a bad, bad choice). I did what Tex just said -- I PMd Laurel yesterday and asked her to choose the category for me. The woman knows her stuff :)

She's usually very quick to respond. My category change was made first thing this morning, though that may have been faster than normal because it's for the contest.

Nothing is written in stone, though. You can change your title and description, and you can submit edited versions of existing stories.
(Those things you do on your Submissions page, though.)

Also -- Welcome! :rose:

Welcome to the jungle. Careful of the trolls.

What category did it end up in? where should it go? Do you have a link to the story?

Hi Jay, Everlux and TxRad, thanks for your replies; all appreciated.

Link to story is here: https://www.literotica.com/s/bi-hooker-bye-crook

It's gone in anal category and this is because it features, however, there's very clear connections with group and gay male categories. It's a difficult one to try pidgeonhole.

Thanks for the warm welcome and helpful replies. Interested in your opinions on where you think it fits best.

Gay male usually trumps all cats but PMing Laurel for her thoughts is probably best.

I don't know why, but this dialogue immediately appeared in my head.

"Call."

"Trip cats, all grey. Sucks to be you dude."

"You'd like to think so." Flips his cards. "Pair o' gays, both erect."

"Shit! I thought I shuffled those to the bottom. Hank?"

"Read them and cower - Trip Laurels. Bring those chips to pappa."

"Shit." "Damn."

:D Interesting deck of cards you have there. Kind of like the swingers decks from way back when.

So when my story was in Romance, I received negative comments about my category choice.
Now it's in Group, and I just got a comment (and 2* rating--despite the anon saying I'm a "fine writer," which I think was a compliment in 1955) from a person who insists it should've been in Romance.

There are certain battles you will never be able to fully win. :(

Ya can't please everybody all of the time. Some people just like to gripe.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and some stink and some don't. ;)

You have a lovely way with words...

I took advice and sent a message to Laurel, just waiting on a response. I don't think anyone's going to feel cheated if they click on my story expecting anal, they just get more than they bargained for!

Apparently all those sweet gentle souls in Romance are viscious when crossed. They 1-bombed the sh*t out of that.

Romance is one man wooing one woman. Period. Don't stray a millimeter from that line if you care about ratings. You're allowed to have a third character if he/she is hot but shallow and evil and ultimately fails to derail the Main Love Affair. Said villain should ideally get ruined somehow, but not by the Loving Couple's actions. It has to be fate.

Fetish people rarely want Romance; Romance people tolerate only the mildest of fetishes, and unfaithfulness is not one of them. Don't screw with people wanting free Harlequin romance.

My story involves three people who fall in love with each other, complete with HEA. It's a ten page story where no one even kisses until page seven, and nothing beyond that until well into page eight. My thinking was that Group readers would get bored long before then.

I gorge myself on contemporary romance, and some of my favorites are mmf relationships where everyone ends up happy together. They're far from uncommon in the genre.

But Lit is its own strange world with its own strange rules. Best to learn that :)

Incest likes Romance. I refuse to give any sort of schmaltzy HEA to my stories and people do NOT like that. They want a HEA, preferably with a baby, which is just gross. I got so much hate mail after the ending of my six chapter series! (Forgot all about that!) and I STILL get people begging me to get them back together, which is never going to happen. One girl sent me like 9 long Feedbacks in a row just lambasting me and cursing me to hell. So whoops, yes, I do get hate mail.

Interesting (maybe) side note--
On the main Stories page, the category description for Romance has gone missing.

No clue how long it's been like that, though. I believe it used to say something about candlelight n stuff.
