I wouldn't bother. The guy gets off on arguing. He will argue any side, of any issue, with anyone. His only consistency is that everyone else is wrong and stupid. Rarely states a position, but yours sucks.

I have made money using bill's equipment. Thanks, bill! I like to see rich people doing more with their cash than buying another island or a bigger boat. Just don't fuck up the schools even more than they are now. How would bill feel if we jammed a landscaper on his payroll to engineer software?

Teach for America was involved with both public and charter schools. Teach for America "teachers" are cheap when compared to union teachers. A handful of years and gone. Poof. Qualified teachers suddenly became "partially effective" in reviews and were chased away. Who replaced them? Bargain priced basket weavers.

Double whammy. Now the (republican driven) tests of the students are even lower. The tea party school board members have even more "reasons" to continue to slice and dice public schools.

The rich white schools never saw Teach for America. Bill and his brain trust only peddle their goods to poor schools that fight for every dollar. Under qualified teachers teaching HIS kids? Get fucking real.

Gates is a world class douchebag.
 
While I disagree that Gates is a douche I admit I was not familar at all with this program and I'm catching up. None of what I'm reading sounds good.

Because:

1.On one hand, even if he's more upfront about these issues, his points are valid.
- One can't dispute the fact that the world population is increasing ( Africa being in the lead) and that if it continues at this rate, it might end up at unsustainable levels. Even if this topic would make a field day for all the racists out there, it's true.
- Also: one can't deny the fact that his humanitarian acts in Africa save many lives, especially those of children: vaccines that would decrease mortality rates in kids, Monsanto crops to avoid malnutrition and death.

And even if the principles and views that drive his humanitarian acts were a bit Malthusian, so be it! Why not have both? His donations haven't harmed anyone. On the contrary.

2.On the other hand:
There's something a bit disconcerting about the manner in which he phrases things, and about the fact that he's so overtly focused on the African continent.
- And about the fact that he seems to be one-track minded about where he puts his money into.
I haven't seen him donate money for AIDS treatment in Africa, or finance research to find a cure for AIDS.
And I haven't seen him lobby against the other factors that are destroying our atmosphere, like car emissions and pollution, and so on.
