Time to nerd the fuck out

Just the thing to peruse while waiting for my turn to attack during next D&D session.

Your DnD games take too long if you can peruse while waiting to attack. Now Twilight Imperium. I might finally not be bored between turns!

No shit. And I did not change. Just got older. At age 40 I was dating 25 year olds. Yet at 15 I couldn't get a girl to talk to me unless she was bullying me. Old friends say I haven't changed at all. I get people I haven't seen since grade school who recognize me. Maybe I'm bad with remembering faces but none of them look much like they did at 12-13.

If you got kids that are skinny, geeky and/or flat chested convince them to hang in there until early 40s, when girls with hips and tits at 16 and guys with chests and biceps start to pack on the pounds.

8 in the group. 2 usually drunk, 2 usually stoned, 2 rule Nazis, a newbie and a DM. Sometimes we can cut through a horde of pit-fiends like a hot knife through butter and sometimes it takes us an hour to negotiate a pit trap (tried to find the meme for that, its out there). Which is probably typical of most adventuring parties.

5 deaths so far. only 1 failed his system shock and had to be stripped of valuables and left under a pile of rocks (deep underground, no wood for a pyre and unable to dig a grave)

Yuck, I can barely keep six people focused consistently with zero chemicals.

Dear god I cannot imagine how shitty things get for you if you split the party. I've gotten to the point where most of the players are well trained enough not to do it.

Also don't get too detailed. One day someone decided that there was a wooden squirrel at a tavern and. . .well nobody would take the time out to describe a wooden squirrel if it wasn't vital to the plot right?! RIGHT?!

Deep space travel may be hazardous to your health
The primary purpose of this study was to determine whether mortality rates due to cardiovascular disease (CVD), cancer, accidents and all other causes of death differ in (1) astronauts who never flew orbital missions in space, (2) astronauts who flew only in low Earth orbit (LEO), and (3) Apollo lunar astronauts, the only humans to have traveled beyond Earth’s magnetosphere. Results show there were no differences in CVD mortality rate between non-flight (9%) and LEO (11%) astronauts. However, the CVD mortality rate among Apollo lunar astronauts (43%) was 4–5 times higher than in non-flight and LEO astronauts. To test a possible mechanistic basis for these findings, a secondary purpose was to determine the long-term effects of simulated weightlessness and space-relevant total-body irradiation on vascular responsiveness in mice. The results demonstrate that space-relevant irradiation induces a sustained vascular endothelial cell dysfunction. Such impairment is known to lead to occlusive artery disease, and may be an important risk factor for CVD among astronauts exposed to deep space radiation.

Ground control to major Tom. Sorry dude.

Yeah, they don't seem very good at it. Too much acting and role playing. But hey, they're pornstars!

Never split the party! Although it would seem to be after an encounter. Still risky. Between adventures most of our characters never hang together. Real mercenary types. MY LN priestess from the Pale has to do enough penance already from just adventuring with a bunch of heretical heathens.

We don't use figurines either. Graph paper maps too.

Decidedly non-good or chaotic bent too. Our DM doesn't even like CN. My CN demon worshipping witch and the DM's son's CN dwarfish priestess in last campaign may have had something to do with that. CN dwarf really fucking out there!

Currently on Greyhawk. Switch between 3 DMs. Other two are Forgotten Realms. I like Greyhawk myself.

2e AD&D pretty old school.

If you like role playing fantasy adventure stiff, give D&D a try.

Been playing since around when the updated the 2nd Edition books to the black cover.

Yeah, a lot of my parties don't really socialize together so we kinda have some magical villages where everybody is in earshot because otherwise it all deteriorates to the point that sometimes people will just decide "nope."

Years ago we did a doppelgangers adventure and our Barbarian was drinking outside and intentionally sat out the sitting to co-DM and play Pokemon. When asked why he said

"I saw Longblade chasing myself who was being chased by Longblade. Obviously I was only going to make things more confusing. So I stayed here with the bar maid with the big titties.

Our DMs are quite generous with loot but we all spend gold pieces like they were coppers, so we set dates for everyone to regroup usually in one of the city of Greyhawk taverns.

We use training option. The dual class guys can be literally months in training. 11 weeks is not unheard of. So the single class PCs who make the wisdom checks can have a bunch of sitting around time. My character can train in like 3 weeks. But Pholtus is a demanding god so she spends a lot of time praying and doing priestly type things.

I actually compiled a bunch of Canonfire articles into a single publication.

https://www.docdroid.net/WoHsGvw/historica-pholtus-in-the-eastern-flanaess.pdf.html

And had my character write it. DM loved it and now my PC is sort of famous after spending 4500 gold on publishing 10 copies and giving them out to high Palish officials, Pholtan churches and Greyhawk oligarchs.

I get more of a kick out of the RP part then the hack and slash stuff.

Current DM's son plays with us. He wasn't even born when we started the current group. Is now twenty I think. Been a core group for near 30 years.

DM's daughter is a dead ringer for Avril Lavinge. Looks even better as she doesn't have to wear makeup to achieve the Avril done up look. Fucking hot. Nice tits too. Get to add the BF's daughter fantasy as well as the epic fantasy.

We tend to be RP heavy as well, to the point that occasionally one of us will almost accidentally stumble into a traditionally great character. We also get railed when we bother dungeon crawling because we never do it.

I haven't been playing that long yet, but maybe someday.

As for treasure it depends on the DM. I tend to be more like your tv shows as far as drops. The heroes have enough to get by but will always eventually find exactly what they always wanted. My other friend really loves rolling treasure so occasionally you'll find some guy who decided "No, we are not throwing a +5 axe away because nobody uses axes. I'll take the goddamn feat to learn Axe goddamnit."

Oh and one guy who never gives us gold. In fact the one time he gave us a huge loot drop we all instantly went "No, no something is very wrong here." And then all hell broke lose and we were using cold coins and rubies as goddamn sling stones because turns out without a stable society gold<fresh water.

One DM is a crawler (current one) back story is usually good though. Once the group starts to know how their characters work best, crawls end up being done by s.o.p..

Currently underground, that has my PC putting continual lights on stones. Then using sling to light up the area. As her religion says to fight chaos, darkness, and evil (in that order), she likes to leave behind CL spells cast on ceiling areas.

Current DM gives out about double training costs in loot. Last DM gave out near 5 times. In short time all your mundane gear is of the finest quality and you are festooned with various bits of jewelry.

We are more likely to sell a +5 axe no one can use than learn the proficiency. Maybe not always but typically we do.

Previous character after retirement was picked up by two guys for a separate party as an NPC. She had 3 skeletal adult white dragons and two zombie pit-fiends plus a half-ogre bodyguard with 18/00 strength. And a pack of 24 guard dogs.

Sling a hammock type chair in the head of an undead white dragon skeleton and use a modified boat hull to fill belly cavity. Add invisibility and she had her own Klingon bird of prey. DM intended we should defeat pirate fleet by combat and diplomacy. She just used her undead white dragons as bombers with casks of oil bombs and burnt and sank it. Daenyrs Targeryn meets Syrian barrel bomb.

We almost never have that much treasure. The one time we DID my elf got so spoiled that the campaign became "get better loot" effectively. I mean we were challenged to a jousting tournament. But at this point I had a long sword from a death knight, a horse that could run on water, the Bow of Char (A bow that had belonged to a Fire God), and I lived in an abandoned temple reclaimed from a Lich.

I wasn't going to joust with mundane gear. So I spent a fuck ton of gold hiring researchers to find a magical lance worthy of me and off we went. . .and didn't make it back in time for that year's tourny but oh well. Better to lose by absense.

This thread is a turnon! I wish I had nerdy friends to play d&d with. Anyone live in Colorado? I had a friend last night invite me but he's in WV.

I will be nerding out all day, I just bought a dedicated game server for one of my favorite games and will be configuring it this morning. Then waiting for a Lit friend to join.

But inside lived...

I modify pics from web to match my PC's description

Previous character; Neenya the Necromancer
From the Complete Wizards Handbook it says witches attract crowds looking to run out of town, arrest and torture or just burn them. So she called herself a necromancer. I figured people leave town when necromancers move in.

Made a meme of this one
