Lots of people.

Everything. From live torture/snuff videos to exotic pets and drugs. Anything you can think of and some horrifying shit you can't imagine.

Tor browser.

It's all about the dark side of the web....I HIGHLY suggest you use some proxies, firewalls. And use bitcoins if you buy any stolen cards, fucked up shows or drugs.

The Dark Web, also confusingly referred to as the Deep Web and conflated with Deep Web search is the World Wide Web content that exists on darknets, overlay networks which use the public Internet but which require specific software, configurations or authorization to access.[4] The Dark Web forms a small part of the Deep Web, the part of the Web not indexed by search engines.]

The darknets which constitute the Dark Web include small, friend-to-friend peer-to-peer networks, as well as large, popular networks like Freenet, I2P, and Tor, operated by public organizations and individuals.

**Back in 2k I started using P2P GNUnetwork. I posted bin Laden's FBI Wanted poster with reward as soon as it came out. I got downloads from Pakistan and the Russian Federation. Considering WWW and internet in 2001/2 I may have been one of the first to get that bit of news to Pakistan. Hey! Maybe he read it himself first time from me?! Nawwww!**

Accessing the dark Web requires special software, special passwords, or both. The worst-kept secret of the dark Web is Tor, originally an acronym for “The Onion Router.” Building on research originally carried out by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, the Tor Project became a community effort to design a way for anyone to communicate online without their location or identity being traceable. Most agree the Tor Project was originally created to ensure free expression without fear of government snooping and interference. The reality is when you get a bunch of people together (not all of them notably mature) and give them complete anonymity and freedom from accountability, often it’s the worst impulses that dominate, not the best.

Thus on the dark Web you find the doings of the anarchist hacktivists of Anonymous and the folks behind Wikileaks; Islamic jihadist message boards; stolen credit card numbers, for sale singly and by the thousands; drugs of every description; child pornography; prostitute directories; contact info for purported assassins; and mundane wares such as pirated music and movies.

**I used it for pirate music and normal sane porn. Also to post anti-multinational chemical company propaganda. I worked for Dow at the time. Bhopal and seeing lax shit even in NA made me a tree hugger big time**

PRIVACY TIP FOR DEEP WEB USERS: Use a VPN with Tor. Don’t fall into a false sense of security by believing that Tor is enough to protect you. If you want the very best anonymity and privacy while on the Deep Web then you need to be using a VPN with Tor. It is an extremely valuable tool in your fight for anonymity.

Silk Road was taken down by US policing forces. Hell of a story. Hollywood doesn't need to invent stuff. This real shit!

Don't forget sex trafficking....of minors.

A friend went on there once to show me. I happened to notice how easily he navigated it and what the first things were he wanted to show me.

I walked out and have never spoken to him since.

Your 'friend' didn't happen to politically exile himself to a Boler trailer parked among the potholes and tumbleweeds behind a Southwestern Walmart Superstore, did he?

Walmart and the dark web go hand in hand.

I poked around using Tor 6-7 years ago. All I came across was kiddie porn and discussions of raping children; I was horrified and never went back.

You should've shot him.

Don't claim to know a ton about it.

Seems to be a lot of hackers and tin foil types. Went to one of their "information forums" once. The tin foil crack pots were strong.

Then there is the people that one free shit; movies, software,...

The "dark part" is probably pretty small.

My guess is NSA can and does track it. But they are simply not going to bust pirates and pervs and let the terriosts know.

I'm a big believer in internet anonymity. You don't have to be looking for terrible things to find it useful. I use tor and VPN's on my compuer. Not because I'm a deviant, (aside from illegal movie and game downloads), but because I think I should be anonymous on the internet. My ISP shouldn't be able to just go look at what I'm doing. I normally use a tablet though, and I've never been successful and setting up privacy like that on it. My IP should still be hidden from websites because of the browser I use, but my ISP can likely still see my acticivity and other people could potentially still view my packets and such.

I would marry Dread Pirate Roberts if he werent in prison for life.

Nope...it's pretty much all the foulest shit on the internet that a major commercial server won't even connect you to it's so bad.

Considering the shit they do connect you to? That should tell you something.

It's pretty much a planetary black market for everything.

Hitmen looking for work, torture/snuff videos/cams, yea that Hostel shit is real you can pay to watch people/animals in some 3rd world shithole tortured/raped/killed live on cam.

Fake credit cards, narcotics of every kind, kiddy porn/prostitution, slaves of all kinds for sale and on and on and on.

They can't do anything about it, they aren't the world police. And there is a reason anyone who has a clue or is telling others about it will stress the importance of using proxies and firewalls to protect your ID just going onto it. You DO NOT go onto the dark web without max security, because it's full battle rattle internet, everyone is out to get you there.

Hasn't stopped women from marrying serial killers. Great nom de guerre "Mrs. 'Dread Pirate' Roberts".

But you don't just stumble upon stuff like that, you have to know what you're looking for and how to find it if you want to access that part of it. You can just go about the internet as normal and nothing would be different. It's not a portal to the netherworld unless you want it to be.

i checked out the silk road, before it was taken down out of curiosity. drugs and credit cards and more shit. i also tried to look into some political stuff, but got lost. i momentarily thought about buying bit coins, but i did not. this web is big enough for me. if i lived in a country where i was worried about saying what i wanted to say, i would probably use TOR or a similar system. I am not worried about my voice here. #firstworldproblems

Yea you can go about the normal internet all proxied up and shit no problem.

But from my limited exp/knowledge of it, that's not the dark/deep web....not the way I've understood/viewed it.

I've always considered the 'dark web' exactly that, the netherworld, the shit you have to seek out and dig for or be told about. Stuff you can't just google or yahoo up like Lit.

I might be wrong.....IDK.

You're probably right. I was referencing the way you would access the dark web, in that it can be just like the normal web, and lumping the software together with the places. But I think you're right, the term dark wsb itself refers only to the parts you can't access normally.

For the love of god DON'T go to the dark web!

Everything bad and illegal you can possibly imagine is on the dark web.
