Someone To Watch Over Me

"Make me a drink," she said.

.... and he did. One for her. One for him.
It was a special summer drink he had been working on perfecting.
Refreshing. Citrus. Ice cold. perfection.

She tucked herself under his arm when she sat next to him
scooting just a little bit closer once she sat down.
Leaning back into his frame. Smiling up at him.

They talked. They laughed. And talked some more.
And laughed ~ their laughter carrying over the water
like a magical message to the fairies and the silkies.

The moon was rising ~ just there over the great mountain.
as the evening began to chill he pulled the crimson afghan
until it wrapped them up together.

She leaned into him... searching for his lips, finding them still cool
and wet and intoxicating from the fine drink...
giggling as she pulled away.

"Could anything be finer than this?"
and then he whispered in her ear
"... the mystery of red."

and she smiled a secret smile
as her heart soared.

You said you wanted biscuits
hot and steaming from the oven
I powdered the counter and rolled out the quick bread dough
brushing the hair out of my eyes with the back of my hand

Did you say you wanted biscuits?
or were you hoping to butter my biscuit?
Did you want me to cook for you?
or did you want to get something cooking?
*smirk*

Don't you find that the kitchen is one of the sexiest rooms in the house???

Some days I think about green things.
And the way they are so interconnected with everything else.
The way the green and lush of these United States connect the biome by the roots from sea to shining sea
Much as our souls are connected even by pixels and interwebs...

On this day... I ponder one who watched over...
day by day
week by week
month by month
year by year
the one he loved.
A complicated but pure and selfless love.
Who would not want such a love?
The love of a protector
who provided support and care and encouragement day by day.

Things end.
hearts break.
The grief and the pain and the rage...
this will be followed in time by a deep resignation.
I am the shore upon which these sorrows break.
I will witness. And console.
And be part of the eternal matrix of the green that knits
all of us together soul by soul
human by human
one word, one touch, one look, one thought at a time.

10K post: A poem ~ Sea was Unexplored

Sea was unexplored

A depth uncharted
Even Sea knew not each dimple
Yet all Sea saw was balance
Her imperfections were beauty marks
Raw power flooding silently
Willful yet willing
Guiding those adrift in distress
Piloted by her grace
Never by her force
Silky, flowing streams in cascade
Abreast with silver veins
Splashes of experience seeing little age
Knowing this fabric was her measure
Woven, bound, unbroken

Sea was traveled

Many sailed across her
Simpler routes with a thank you
Longer voyages allowing greater pictures
Daily acquaintances grew to love Sea
And Sea found solace against their hulls
Some engaged storms on her surface
Foolhardy, impertinent men
Never fathoming her fathoms
Steered swiftly shoreward
At worst, Sea opened wide her waters
Their flags flying facades
Brazenly hoisting the colours
Apathetic, dumping their refuse
Scars left by inferior superiors
So Sea stayed cool
Provisional passage granted
Until they became Sea worthy

Sea was seen

The visceral weight of his vessel
Any surface defense was lost
Her willpower, strong and resolute
Swayed to conform without effort
His firm hand steered to her core
Sea chose to be disarmed
Her private vistas captured and displayed
Threaded together
Unafraid he would unravel her
An ethereal tether between them
Yearning to feel his rope plunge deep
The cord to anchor her soul

Sea was charted

Quickly, the journey left Sea rocking
Tossing, turning, tumultuous actions
Drained the depths of her intimacy
Raging, gushing underneath
Sea was blind to towering waves
For all Sea could see was him
If he perused, she would submit
Without words, he knew her trial
He was in Sea not calm
And at once he looked down
And at once Sea looked up
His eyes so soft
Her waters became glassy
No depth left unseen
His hand ... less than that
His fingertips ... lesser still
Leaning, he reached down
The back of one index finger
Caressed Sea surface silently
He could not bear
Her tumult in being made bare

He owned sea
and sea obeyed

sea slept
