Someone commented on a story of mind, it was a nice comment, then went on to leave their email.

Is this allowed? Am I supposed to delete the comment?

Or can I leave it as is.

I have a dim memory from the first time I posted a story that I should manage my comments, but I can't remember if email addresses are forbidden.

I tend to delete the email address but sender the emailer a 'thank you' note.

Not forbidden, just very foolish. I'd reply to the address and explain you loved the comment but deleted it because you don't think addresses should be left in comments. Give them the text of their note back, without the address, in case they want to re-post.

Related: I'm constantly after people who contact me to not hand out last names in email. Gmail is notorious for this - when you create a Google+ account, you enter first and last name; and people aren't often aware that that information gets added to their email address as a comment. They think they are being careful with the address itself, but then I get emails from "Susie Queue <sueq@gmail.com>" and a link to their Google+ page, which sometimes has much more information than they ever intended to give out. This especially annoys me because I like to ask fans intensely personal questions about their reading (and other) habits that are a lot more comfortable to answer with anonymity.

Thanks a lot folks, I'll delete and send him a thank you. The idea about sending the text of his comment back to him is good too.

Be careful which e-mail account you use as the source.
You might also advise him to use the PM system.

Good idea, if he contacts me again I'll suggest that.

As for my email, I have a separate email that is for Lit and only Lit. There is so little use of that email that it doesn't get any spam. My real name isn't in the email either. I know a determined hack could link it to real me, heck, a casual search probably could. I'm sure that my provider - or at least it's data base - links it with the real me. But I'm not doing anything illegal, my wife knows that I write what she calls porn, I'm retired, and am not close enough to any family to care if they found out what I do in my spare time.

As for the guy who commented, well, I did due diligence, I'm glad he liked the story and left a favorable comment, but I can't be his nanny.

edited: Thanks to all for your help. And also after all that, the guy didn't vote or re-comment.
