I have something I have written, but it doesn't appear to fit in any of the categories on Lit.

It is not erotic and it's not fiction. It is a short metaphorical essay. It is easily the most powerful thing I have written.

I know there's a non erotic category, but it says it's for non-erotic fiction.

I know there's an essays and reviews section, but it says it's for erotic subject matter.

I don't think it qualifies as poetry, though I never really understood where the boundaries are there.

I think the real answer is it probably belongs somewhere else on the web other than Lit, but I thought I would ask in case I'm missing something.

Metaphor is just a fictional way to describe a real thing. Drop it in Non-Erotic.

Don't overthink categories here. They're rather broken, and if Laurel has a problem with your choice she'll move it anyway.

Have you considered "Non Erotic" ?

Have you considered "Non Erotic" ?

Um, yes, I think I addressed that in my third sentence.

My issue there was that the category is described as being for non-erotic fiction, and I didn't consider this fiction. Hands in the Dark had an interesting take on it and I suppose he has a point.

I just checked though and it is only 356 words, so it doesn't qualify for submission as a story anyway.

Moving on. Probably just as well anyway.

I'd go with essays, I've seen essays that are not erotic. There's several for selling your stories in e-form, nothing erotic about that.

That would be my pick

ETA....perhaps Letters and Transcripts?

It's only 356 words LC so poetry is the only option.

plus, Laurel makes you eat worms. ;)

Can I at least fry them? I hear they're not so bad that way.

In response to 7's question, normally I wouldn't get too concerned about it, most of my stories can fit in several categories and the one time Laurel didn't think I picked the right one, she moved it.

This is kind of a special case where it really isn't a story and doesn't meet the minimum length requirement imposed here for a story. I have thought better of it and will not try to post it on Lit.
