I read a comparison and critique of US Presidents based on IQ scores.

Donald Trump is rated the lowest, Dubya is next. John Quincy Adams the OCD abolitionist is rated the smartest, followed by Obama and Carter.Carter outranks FDR, Abe Lincoln, Washington, JFK, and Teddy Roosevelt. Most score 130, Hillary and Bill do better.

John Quincy Adams started out with great promise, and impressed the best. Then in 1824 he screwed Andy Jackspn outta winning. Hid administration was meh, and Jackson defeated him in 1828. Adams blamed the South, and spent the rest of his life fucking the South and pushing black emancipation as a fanatic abolitionist.

If you ask me IQ scores over 145 are like weighing 300 pounds or being 8 feet tall or like RAINMAN. Lincoln, they say, was 140.

Extremely high IQs are considered a disability of these days. I don't entirely disagree with that reasoning as it does affect socialization.

I suspect the only ones that we have actual evidence of IQ iare probably Jimmy Carter because of course the Navy would have tested him and George Bush before being admitted to Pilot training. I could see standards being waived to get him in because of who his father was.

armchair analysis of presidential IQ is just silly though what do we have to go on perhaps their writings? The more modern presidents had speech writers how do we know which words they wrote? Obama as, far as we know, hasn't written anything ever. None of his papers from his schooling seem to be available to anyone. It is reasonably postulated that his autobiographies were ghostwritten. I tend to buy that, not just because of partisan point of view but because whole passages seem to be lifted from Ayers writings, and those writings do not vary in author's voice from the body of the text that contains them. Although...I've heard that he sits down with a pad and writes out speeches longhand and that may very well be. I don't think he's an idiot, but I have a hard time believing that he smarter than Jimmy Carter. I highly doubt that Obama could pass the Navy's nuclear engineering Entrance Test.

I buy Hillary and Bill being genius level IQ. but again that's just general impression. Based on General impressions m not at all surprised that it was discovered that George Bush's grades were higher than Al Gore's because Al Gore is clearly an idiot.

My experience is that some "smart" people lack common sense.
When I was in the Army, the records for the unit were pretty much wide open because the clerk-typists had plenty of time to go through the files.
The "smartest" GI was an intel analyst. She got run over by a bus she just got out of.

Slick Willy was a Rhodes Scholar. He may be a whole lotta things, but stupid isn't one of them. His IQ is estimated around 158.

There's a difference between being and idiot and being a politician.
That being said, I don't know nearly enough about Abbot to discuss his virtues vs his shortcomings, so I'll cede the point.

I'm a psychologist (retired). I consider high IQ scores pathology like high weight and high blood pressure. Such people go to Harvard, and then work in Washington and Wall Street, and neither place has any bragging rights. Scores above 145 are nonsense. I mean, 145 is 3 standard deviations above average, and a tiny group of people, but enough people to fill our needs for brainiacs.

So I ask people, WHAT YOU DONE LATELY? Our trials and challenges give us up, and neutralize social advantages. Real brainiacs are as rare as sports stars. One applicant outta 10,000 plays for the NFL, NBA, or MLB. My smartie pants grandson has better odds for getting into med school than his 100 mph fast ball can help him get in MLB. Affirmative action is unheard of in sports. Performance is everything.

I saw the same article. It seemed pretty silly to me since they didn't have IQ standard testing prior to the 1900s. There really isn't any way to compare IQs. Most children in the 1900s did not have IQ testing either unless there was some indication of high intellect or low intellect.

I would rather have a president with common sense? than one with a high IQ label.
