England v. Iceland is on Monday. They're a small country with shit weather & a self-inflicted financial crisis, but they should beat Iceland
So annoyed with my fellow country men.
I couldn't vote Leave in the end, because whatever the complexity of my Bennite feelings about a supra-national neo-liberal project it would not be interpreted that way. I'd just have been another child throwing its toys out of the cot and then crying because it had no bunny to hold. I keep up my lovely purist record of never having voted on the winning side in my voting life (began in 1996), and watch with bitter amusement as, one by one, every Brexit argument is snatched away before its bovine supporters.
Oh, sorry, did you think we were going to use the extra money for the NHS? What - you thought we were going to limit immigration? Where on earth did you get that from?
Fuck democracy. The rule of the least fit.
and he wonders why people despise him
Have any of you ever thought about moving to another state, a big move?
I've been doing a lot of thinking this morning. Now that my mom is gone and Jennifer has her own life and long-time partner. What is really keeping me here? Now don't get me wrong, being away from my daughter would be so hard but I have my own life now. I'm not totally happy in Ohio, especially with mom gone.
It is just something I am mulling around.
from what I read here a few have, and I have made big moves. Here is my opinion, moving to something works, running away from something doesn't. You can move for different weather, or a job, or a relationship, for example, but you cannot leave self doubt, interpersonal issues, and so on. In various places I have lived I have regarded expat' groups ' with interest. Occasionally I have attended social things for expedience, but when I am somewhere I like to be THERE. It's the same moving somewhere with the same language, be ready to move to the local culture, whether it's embracing a local way of dressing a ubiquitous food, or to feel MORE inward looking and resentful about what was run from.
I do not say you are running, just commenting, on generally what I think makes the difference for success. And leaving a bad situation, is not necessarily running, it came be instead MOVING TO something better, It depends on the individuals outlook.
