It doesn't bother me if some of them choose to dress in expensive clothes.
Because, as public figures in such high positions, I believe that they should try to look the part.
And it doesn't bother me if they advocate for the poor while wearing a 12.000 $ coat either. It depends on how they're doing it (no batting of eyelashes or touchy-feely speeches, please), and if they genuinely intend to do something about it.
But if it's just hypochritical lip-service to look good or to win ellections: indeed, that discrepancy annoys me too. (like when Ben Affleck came to Europe to give those nasty european laypeople lessons in "humanity" re reffugees. A money donation would have been more appreciated, thanks).
