Opinions on splitting up LW

I've been on Literotica for about 4-5 years and just became a member about a 1 and a 1/2 years ago, after I became an empty nester, so I will become an amateur literary critic and will now start posting comments under my login name. I couldn't do so before because my kids knew my pc better than me.

My big question is why the cuckold stories are in the loving wives stories section. I believe that with women becoming more comfortable in posting stories of their fantasies in the recent years is the reason for more of the cuckold stories. I would think with the volume of recent cuck stories that a new category of "Cuckolds & Cuck Queens" should be added. This might help readers find more stories to their liking quickly without having to sift through all the stories they are not interested in. I believe that LW category was firmly established for years before all the cuck stories started coming about with cheating, swapping, swinging, wife sharing, and divorce stories. Cucking to me seems to be more of a lifestyle choice like BDSM, MC, NC, or Fetish than in the LW category. I believe there might be less negative feedback from comments if the readers didn't read stories they aren't interested in. Misleading titles and teasers that suck readers into story lines they don't intend to read thus causing unwanted, abusive, and stupid comments and voting practices. I'm finding more and more stories with exaggerated number of comments because of trolls and members arguing with each other so that looking for stories with a large number of comments is a misleading way of finding stories to read for my enjoyment, although I gave most a favorable vote because I thought they were enjoyable, original, and /or controversial.

I've recently read some great stories from authors who now say that can't handle the immaturity of some of the Anon and Non-Anon commenters and have left Literotica to go somewhere else to show their talent and I'm really saddened by that. I realize that I may not be enlightened enough to know what may be proper definition of what the category criteria but I'm willing to find out.

BTW, I'm an excellent proof reader and speller so if anyone would like a free proof read I would be delighted to do so. I read stories for enjoyment and read them at a slow and leisurely pace so I do notice things out of place that get missed a lot. I may not be fast but I am thorough.

Yes, split up Loving Wives

Couldn’t agree more with BrickDaddy on this one.

I’ve been reading here for 4-5 years, registered some months.

The fundamental problem, IMHO, in loving wives (LW) is that it includes swinging, cuckolding with humiliation, cuckholding with consent (and desire by the cuckold), cheating and reconciliation, cheating and burning the cheater (and possibly others), and probably some other archetypes I’m forgetting. These are radically different things - contrast a story where the woman ties up the husband, belittles him, and has another man have sex with her in front of the humiliated husband with a story where the wife is having an affair and hiding it, and the husband finds out and ends up killing the wife and lover. I can’t see how these belong in the same category. Tags can help sorting this out, but not enough people use them - witness the Anon comments to verify this.

A modest suggestion: Split Loving Wives into - Cheating Wives (affairs where she’s trying to hide it from him), Cheating Husbands (where he’s trying to hide it from her - also for sexual balance, because there has never AFAIK been a Loving Husbands category), Cuckolding (where part of the excitement is that the spouse/SO knows about the extramarital relation, with a possible humiliation component), and Swinging (open marriage stories).

If this is too many new categories, perhaps Cheating (both genders), Cuckold/Cuckqueen, and Swinging.

I realize this can cause problems with old stories, Hall of Fame ratings, etc. I don’t know how to solve them, but I suspect they would be less difficult than the current mess that is Loving Wives.

Finally, as BrickDaddy said, if this is the wrong place for this post, feel free to move it to where it belongs.

As far as I can tell LW is a huge conflagration of conflicting tastes, so maybe it would help to split it up. Like Hands, I wouldn't read it anyway and I think the idea needs to go to Laurel, not to us.

How to split it is a big question. I think the whole thing may have been ill-conceived to start with. The name of the category provides no clue about what is posted there. It seems like some kind of abiding sarcasm that grew stale a long time ago.

Cuck stories willing/un-willing have over the last few years have become the majority of LW with BTB another popular one, the old style LW stories are now few and far between and some are being moved into EC.

Like others I wouldn't read there regardless of what they did and in my personal opinion I'd rather see it disappear entirely. To the point if someone said I had the power here and which category goes Non con or LW...

I'd choose LW, a lot of content there is far worse than non con in its ceaseless abuse, torture-sexual torture-and humiliation of both women men, there isn't anything even remotely sexual or erotic about the majority of the stories there anymore, its a snake pit of hate.

No, and although I'm sure there are other reasons, a big one would be then readers and authors would want every category split into sub genres

Incest would want dad/daughter mom/son siblings, family incest etc....Group MFM ffm 4+ more ....

It would open up a can of worms.

LW has had cheating in it as long as I can remember, and I start reading on this site in about 2000. There was a lot less cuckold stuff then (and in Lit terms, there is a difference), but LW has always been a mix with changing majorities of what the types of stories were.

This question has come up a lot, largely due to what people interpret the name 'loving wives' to mean - which is, as most things, influenced by subjective/relative perspectives. Some say it should just be about sex scenes between married couples (hence 'loving' wives). Others say that 'loving' should be interpreted more in an erotic/sexual, rather than romantic, way - so a 'loving wife' is one that has/gives 'loving' (i.e. sex), in which case cheating, cuckolding, etc all fit the category.

So anything involving a wife having sex fits with the category, but whether anyone thinks it should is all based on what their personal preference/interpretation means. (Likely the category lumped everything together partly for this reason and partly for space/ease of use/small numbers of stories originally).

While it can be aggravating to search through lots of stories that aren't your preferences, that could be fixed just by authors tagging their stories correctly (rather than for what will get them views) and/or making a more accurate/'better' search (incl. tag search) system, rather than splitting them up. Erotic Couplings, for instance, is so broad that technically it should include gay, incest, wives, cheating, cuckold, bdsm, and probably almost all of the other categories. The gay section can overlap with other sections, such as incest, cheating, bdsm, group, anal, and so on, as most of the categories can - so while having separate sections would be a good idea if the topic became big enough and remained that way (and cuckold, not cheating, stuff was not always big and may not always stay big), there is at least something to be said for lumping stories together that all fit under one common theme - i.e. they all have wives having sex in them in LW (or should, anyway).

Totally get the argument though - but with multiple genre stories, so many sub-genres it would be impossible to have them all, changing trends in stories being written and read, having more specific rather than general/loose categories is hard to do, and with searching you can always find what you're looking for if it is written on here. Making a more accurate search and having author's tag better may help. Preferences and interpretations though, they will always conflict.
