We try to be as careful as we can when hiring. It is a one way street. The ones that beat the system are the ones that look good on paper, do great on the interview, and work their asses off during the probation period. Then...poof. Suddenly the hard work and effort is replaced by shitty employee.
And they wonder why I pack a gun in my lunchbox.

You know, I can understand the scenario you are describing but in this case it was just that she never busted her ass, she was too busy doing anything but the job and that's not acceptable around here. You have to be an exemplary employee to make it here, that means busting ass always, anticipating problems, retaining good relationships with everyone involved, not being a weird weirdo who doesn't do their job or know how to interact with humans.
It just isn't always a good fit.
