Not the most remote of places. Not the world's greatest fishing. Lots of places similar in Canada's north. But more lovely than 90% of the rest of the world. Except for God's Own County.

Where I spend my holidays.

Ice free in time for cabin opening. Going up for maybe 2 weeks.

47 degrees 01' 28.65" north by 81 degrees 28' 18.55" west

I can just hear the loons calling, lovely pics, thanks.

Open a pic and listen. Love the sound of loons. Hell of a set of lungs on them.

Sitting on the cabin porch, drinking Scotch, smoking doobies, talking fishing and playing chess (if weather is real bad). Life don't get much better.

Put the Scotch and doobies away until kids have gone to bed and best place to take kids on holidays.

Dogs too. Even dogs with a tendency to run off exploring stay close to camp. Maybe there is enough around camp to keep their noses and curiosity happy. Or maybe they smell wolf and lynx and stay where it is safe.

Camp is unoccupied for 80% of the year. Local animals seem to have no fear of us when we are there. Many mornings you can see a moose, bear, lynx, silver fox and others passing through or hunting around cabins.

Canoes have to stood up or small animals nest under them, then the bears jump on the canoes trying to smash them like a rotten log to get at critters they can hear and smell. Expensive Kevlar canoes with bottoms smashed by 300lb bear.

Chipmunks are only fed with peanuts unsalted still in shell. Smoke a doobie then go outside with a bag of peanuts. They will eat out of your hand and perch on your head and shoulders to eat. Cool!

 Has the baby killer finally found someone who may measure up to her ideal of Sean?

Stay tuned...
