You're saying that the killer refused to follow the law against murder but would have followed a law about going into bathrooms.

Just like other similar environments, a toilet is an enclosed space with a lock, which offers few means of escape for a vulnerable person, and allows the predator to overpower his victim.

That's why he chose that particular place to assault that teacher.

But there's a Huge difference between enforcing that rule in controlled settings such as schools and workplaces where everybody knows everybody, so there's little room for error.
- and applying it in large shopping centers like Target, where basically anyone can walk in.

So how are they going to know that that particular person has GID? Have the bathroom attendant ask them for a letter from their doctor? Basically any sexual predator or even pedophiles can pretend to have GID in order to have access to their prey (either to peep or even something more sinister like seeing half-naked woman in a closed cubicle when the bathroom is empty or unattended).

And I read on the net that there actually were a few such cases.
And when I visitted them, my sister showed me an app. that showed the nomber of paedophiles in their area and their proximity. I was shocked to see how many there were.
A lot more than people with GID, that's certain.

I agree with you on the terrible discrimination and the hate crimes.
And that THOSE are poorly addressed and need to be addressed.
I also agree with you on some other points (related to schools, workplaces and so on), but I disagree on the ones related to the Target policy.



1.Imo, a person with GID who looks like a female Is definitely in danger indeed.
- So for them, using the women's bathroom is much much more appropriate.

But whereas a person with GID who hasn't had hormonal treatment yet. (or started it, but still looks like a male) is in danger in settings where people know him/her (schools, workplaces),
- (s)he isn't in danger in shopping malls or other public places. How could anyone tell whether (s)he's transgender, unless (s)he tells them?



2.In other words, on one hand I agree with you, that a person who identifies themselves as the other gender should use the appropriate restroom in schools, workplace etc. Regardless of their treatment phase or their external appearance.

But come on, let's have a bit of common sense. In shopping malls like Target?
Taking the word of every male-looking person who claims that he hasn't had hormonal treatment yet, but has GID? And allowing him unrestricted access to bathrooms where women and little girls are semi-naked in closed cubicles? I think that's bloody unsafe, CCTV cameras or no cameras.

If you are keen to enforce that rule in shopping malls (as opposed to applying it in safe, monitored settings such as schools, workplaces and so on where everyone knows everyone) that makes YOU selfish. Because you're putting your needs before the potential safety of so many other women and little girls.

But because of how vulnerable that setting makes a woman or a small girl, I think that legislators should be more careful about giving potential access to any potential predator (the occasional perv. who'll pretend that he has GID) to such spaces.

2.In contrast to any other criminal cases, the professional bodies always go with the "guilty until proven innocent" assumption when investigating child or sexual abuse allegations. For a reason - because the damage is irreparable.

I think that they should be much more cautious and apply the same logic in these cases. One can't afford to experiment and to take any risks, no matter how small one might think (again, there's no evidence to support that assumption) the odds are of such things happening.
Even one victim or tragedy is too much.

((In the previous discussions in this thread leading up to this one,
- I said that I was referring to public places and so on and specifically to those in the "pre-hormonal treatment phase" , so to speak.
- I also said that I have a different take on things when it comes to controlled environments such as schools or workplaces
Maybe that explains our complete split in opinions - perhaps I didn't re-iterate it here. ))


1.There's a very high risk for those who have undergone hormonal treatment and are close to the pre-op phase. Because anyone could tell.
So yeah - They Should use the facility of their choice

2.But there's limitted risk if they're in the pre-hormonal treatment phase. Because who would be able to tell?

In the case of the latter, there's definitely less risk than the one posed for women and kids.
Because, on top of that: the prevalence of individuals with GID is infinitessimal compared to that of paedophils, peeping Toms and other sexual deviants who could take advantage of the new experiment.
