I got the trolls all stirred up

Poorly written

Both from a technical standpoint (you really need an editor) and from a storyline point of view. These were simply unlikeable characters, acting in mindless, unimaginative ways. Nothing sexy or erotic about it. In the end, I simply didn't care what happened to whom because it just wasn't interesting.
No stars because even giving this mess one star would be an insult to the star.

The comment is full of formulas well known to me and probably many others here: need an editor; not erotic; unlikable characters; didn't care by the end; insult to the star. All jumbled together without any sign at all that the person has actually read the story. They make this troll's comments highly identifiable. I always delete them.

But the "unlikable characters" comment sometimes comes from people who've actually read. I often wonder why so many readers want characters to be likable. I love hateful characters and find them far more erotic than nice people, who mostly bore me.

I think many readers want to identify with the characters, especially in erotica because this is fantasy and for many here its how they live their sexual fantasies so they want to like the character so they can put themselves in their place, if the character is unlikable, then that makes it difficult to do so.

That and if you don't like a character you don't want to see them enjoy anything.

Having said that in SWB I had a huge faction of "Megan haters" but yet the still read, but maybe it was because the loved "Mark" and hoped he would ditch her, that or I would do something horrible to her. But there was still one likable character in it for them to cling to.

My first and only time in LW had the same result, all my stories took a nose dive, and then I turned off all my communication/feedback.

A question............

How can I delete a comment from a story?
Not that I will. just wondering.
I feel all comments are helpful. It shows some one is at least glancing at our stories.

It doesn't hurt our feelings since we both know we can't write. If all bad writters never wrote stories very few books would have been written.

We're not far from Rawling's woods. Maybe we should sneak in her cabin and write some better stories.;)

LC......this is always me:D

Go into your control panel-the page where you see all your scores and stats on your stories. Find the story click 'moderate public comments' and delete the one you don't want.

Yes--my conniving and bitchy Pipit had about a quarter as many readers as my cheerful and likable Emily, though I'm sure "Pipit" is much better storytelling than "Emily." Many who stuck with Pipit to the end did so in the hope of seeing her punished--and then they punished me for not punishing her enough.

I get the identification thing, I guess. Maybe there's something wrong with me for identifying with unpleasant characters more than pleasant ones, and for fantasizing about making love to (and being in love with) assholes.

Heathcliff (not the cat!) is the hottest of hot male characters, and Darcy and Rochester succeed partly because of their flaws. I'd much rather be Moll Flanders than Agnes Wickfield.

I caved in to the trolls or anonymous posters.:(

As I saw my wife's stories being insulted more and the scores hitting bottom I decided it was time for change.
I was able to go back to three of the four pending and changed them from LOVING WIVES to the generic EXHIBITIONISTS.

It's just not worth the bitching and moaning. I'm sure some will follow after my reply comments.
Actually the LW stories I read there weren't all that good either. But I gave decent stars and comments for trying.

So, did the Trolls win?

The comments received about the OP's story were quite impressive. At least most of the comments had complete sentences.

The last story I posted in LW was purposely so sick and wrong that I didn't expect much in the way of positive comments. What I got were several comments that were simply a string a cuss words followed by a threat of violence. (Most of these were deleted by Lit)

I can only imagine that my stupid little story really turned these cuss factory trolls on, and they absolutely hated what put such a throbbing lump in their pants.

After all, no one spews the loud hatred of gays more than the extreme closeted homosexual pedophile... right Fred Phelps?

Gobsmacked

So I got this feedback on my "Lilly Wants a Baby" story. I honestly don't know how to take it.

Good Golly Molly! I was gobsmacked when I read this delightfully, wicked tale! It has absolutely no literary value whatsoever, just pure wanker material for sure. Just the way I like em! Sorry it took me so long to post a comment. I'm not as young as I used to be! It took three days for me to get through the whole thing because my wanker went off about twice a page. Let me tell you laddie I really soiled some linen getting through this horrid little wank story.

Unlike some of the trolls here I know fiction from fact and I'm acutely aware that this is all fiction. And what fiction it is! It is a marvelously complex and completely shallow saga of raging lust and cheap gratuitous sex.

Please write more like this. My wanker and I are begging you!

Maybe someone could enlighten me as to what exactly "Gobsmacked" is? As I read the comment I first thought this was a very nice positive comment and then, well, maybe not. I honestly wonder if the guy is schizophrenic or maybe he was just gobsmacked???

I also got another excellent comment from syd_v63 which had real critique value and excellent constructive criticism. Two wonderful comments in one day! I hit the jackpot bigtime :D

To the best of my knowledge, "gobsmacked" is neither inherently praise or put down. I think it just means "surprised" or "shocked", which could go either way.

Highly complimentary in this context. 'Gobsmacked' means so amazed, and in this instance delighted, you involuntarily put your hand in front of your mouth as you 'OMG' or something like that. You have smacked yourself in the gob with surprise.

Cool. That is what I initially thought, then my dirty little mind started fishing up images of being snowballed or something similar. You know, being smacked with a gob of something :D

His post seemed complimentary but I have to admit I wasn't sure if it really was or if he was poking fun (Which I'm okay with too) Giving people a reason to laugh is not a bad thing.
