- in a specific spot that is still safe (within the visibility range of the bathroom attendant and foot traffic)
- yet offers them enough privacy, so that no one notices them going in there and knows what they're doing.

Some of the comments made here are quite frankly ludicrous. Do you honestly believe anyone would "choose" to feel as though they are the opposite gender than that which they were assigned at birth? This may blow your tiny little narrow mind but gender is a social construct; and social constructs can evolve and change over time according to societal views. Trans people are PEOPLE... they are human beings just like everyone else. Being Trans does not automatically make you a pervert or a sexual predator. The suggestion that this will lead to more sexual assaults in bathrooms is ridiculous! A pervert will always find a way to be a pervert but the thought that trans people want to use the bathroom for anything other than having a pee or moving their bowels (like all us cis-gender people) is laughable!

By that logic we should fear every Muslim person carrying a backpack and we should castrate every man... since statistically the majority of rapists are men.

Okay... for a start... just because I'm a woman does not mean that I'm applying "emotional reasoning". I find that comment extremely condescending. If you would read many of the posts (including my own) opposing the OP's post you would find that they are speaking out against very clear hate and active discrimination... no huge leap in logic happening there!

To answer your other question... you can't tell for certain if every single person you meet is a cis-woman or a cis-man. You also can't tell for certain who is a sexual predator and who isn't. That's what you seem to be missing in your logic. Given that you can't tell for certain what genitalia any person has does that make it okay to either ask, require some sort of proof, or demand to see before admitting entry to a toilet? On the back of this... I know plenty of Trans women who have not yet had surgery but are so passable no one would ever know. So how should we police this?? Is every single person to provide proof or just the more masculine looking women???

Either way this is hugely discriminatory against Trans People. There's nothing currently stopping a pervert (male or female) from entering a women's bathroom so why should this change now?? It literally makes no sense. It's fear mongering!
