McDonald's and Wendy's going self-service...a predictable result of the $15 min. wage

Another brilliant liberal idea that's turning to shit right before our eyes. They'll never understand that you can't change the basic laws of economics any more than the law of gravity.

As usual the low information types believed the Big Lie. They don't get it and never will.

Tell us about them robots who're gonna cook the burgers and fill the paper bags.

Then tell us about the robots at the drive-thru windows.

Another profoundly stupid post by PervertDownSouth. The poor bastard feels compelled to convince as many people as he can what a putrid, disgusting asshole he is.

What a fucked up existence,

Not to mention this was happening min wage or not.

And as soon as they can automate other jobs them fuckers are gone too.

I read recently that over 90% of McDonald's restaurants are franchised. On average, a McDonald's will make approximately $165,000 a year in profit (after fixed costs & expenses, salaries, taxes, insurance, etc).

When the $15 dollar minimum wage begins, two thirds of that $165 grand will get eaten up by salaries. Now, for large corporations like McDonalds, they will survive by raising prices a bit & replacing cashiers with automated kiosks. I believe they've already bought over 7,000 self-serve kiosks for European McDonald restaurants.

Mom & pop restaurants (which typically only have around a 6% profit margin) will be crushed when that wage hike happens since kiosks won't be an option. Raising their prices will just force more people to eat at home which will destroy their already slim profit margins.

How come that didn't happen any of the other times we raised min wage?

20 years ago 7.50/hr = fuckin' sky is falling!!! .....never happened.

Over the years, the minimum wage has been raised in increments, they've never fucking doubled it in one shot.

Buy a clue.

I thought they were talking about taking it to 15/hr over the next few years.

We've been stalling and going WAY to slow to keep up with the cost of living. If we had an appropriate min wage equivalence of 95' it would be somewhere between 18 and 22 dollars/hr depending on which report/article you're looking at.

Mega bux has been gaming the system for a couple decades now and they have squeezed the lower/middle and now even the upper middle class for every drop of fuckin' blood they got and the stone is running dry.

This is crony crapitalism coming back to bite America in the ass pure and simple.

The elites are going to have to do one of two things.

1) Cut the protectionist mobster style licencing/permitting bullshit....open the markets up a bit. Let mother fuckers hustle up some cash, quit being so god damn greedy. No more special treatment for them thus shitting on mom n' pop.

and/or

2) start paying enough to cover the bread half of the bread and circus pacifier....15/hr.

Or the villagers are grabbing their torches and pitchforks.

Looking at this years election I'd say the villagers are starting to get pissed and talking about grabbing them. If the establishment doesn't pull it's head out of big money/special interest ass and start doing their job like quick fast and in a hurry they are about to start all getting fired.

You don't get to send 70% of the country to the poor house and not catch some shit for it, there WILL be a reckoning for that shit and I have a feeling said reckonon' will play out over the next...oooooh 4 years.

I still don't think any state has doubled it. The states have developed a plan to gradually move to that amount.

That's what CA's done....no one is freaking the fuck out.

Shit the only people working for less than 20/hr in SF are getting tips they likely don't claim come tax time.

California is run by idiots that seem to purposely tax & over-regulate major industries out of their state. First it was the movie & tv industries. Next, their porn industry is moving over to Vegas. Businesses are leaving the state in droves. It's ranked dead last in business friendly states. I think Toyota is the most recent huge corporation to move from California to Texas in order to escape the stifling taxes and regulations.

But Toyota didn't escape high taxes by moving to Texas, they still pay them in Texas.

The main reason corporations are leaving California is that their employees can't afford houses in California.

The reason that houses are so expensive in California is because of government intervention.

The median home in Dallas-Fort Worth costs about $210,000, and the median income is roughly $58,000. In Torrance the median home price is $508,000 and the median income is $76,000.

Just read this a little while ago about the tv show, Supergirl:

Costs are going to be cut for the second season,
with Supergirl’s production moving from Los
Angeles to Vancouver.

Alllllll true. The taxes aren't really the biggest issue, it's the regs.

Sacramento just prints laws and creates alphabet agencies for the sake of having them....24/7...it's all they do, pimp the state to rich folks.

Little girl with a Lemonade stand and no billion dollar permit? SWAT team!!

Only the elite are allowed to make money here. Poor people are wage slaves only, we fucking hate HATE poor people in California, especially ones that don't know their place and try to make money for themselves.

It's not just government intervention, that has a little bit to do with it but not much. Way away from the mega-uber-metropolis that is the SF bay area on the north coast our median house price for the county is only 18k more than in DFW.

It's supply and demand.

Everybody wants to live in SF/LA....it's cool, the climate is wonderful, the scenery is fucking incredible, lots of money there, just so much fucking money it's insane.

What happens when you have a bunch of ultra rich people living in a concentrated area? Prices go up...

That's more of a US v Canada thing....people from all over the US are going to Canada to film, it's not just California.

I aint got the horsepower in my noggin to figger it all out.

So what I do is sit and wait, to see what happens. Cause shit sure as hell happens. I don't got a clue, but God does.

Here, around Hooterville, the thrift stores are closing, and the restaurants closed long ago.

New Zealand has had a $15 minimum wage (or equivalent) for decades. Our McDonald's are fully serviced, never been an issue. They're still a licence to print money.

You are just stating that it did not happen.

When the minimum wage was introduced, restaurant workers were paid a much lower minimum wage because of, you know, tips.

But I guarantee that you have fewer of them because with the inflated prices of food, you are going to service fewer customers.
