I've just been to the feedback board looking for some new story and half the comments are copy/paste from the same person.

This is a normal occurence, it happens every time.

Why is it allowed? Why this troll bonnytaylor2 or vastysmith2 won't be banned?

Did you report any of the stories affected? The Web site can't do much about anything that's not reported to it.

List me as you like, but I didn't spout any kind of nastiness, and I don't believe for one second that this hasn't been reported before. Probably many times before. I searched the forum and there's even an old post about that.

You not only were nasty to someone trying to be helpful, you also repeated it. You posted your little peeve, I asked if you'd done what is the only thing a user can do to get results, and you spouted shit. Stick it where the sun don't shine.

One reader votes a one and another votes a five. Both comment on it. No spam, just a flame war between two readers that self cancel.

Ignore is your best friend. Problem is, most people can't do it without a button.

Nope, that's not my problem. I don't give a fuck about ratings, the system is pretty useless anyway. And if you possessed half a brain you would understand that a couple of votes are irrelevant when hundreds of people vote.

My problem is only with the useless comments that clutter the feedback board every day. I signed in only to point that out. Now I see how things work here so I won't bother anymore.

The actual term for what's going on is "flooding" rather than "spamming". They're often used interchangeably, because they're treated in much the same way. Both are bannable offenses almost anywhere.

The problem is that trying to do so here would be an eternal game of whack-a-mole. All you really need to sign up for a new account is a new email address, which takes all of a minute or two to set up. Ban the account, and the troublemaker will have a new one and be back in business in five minutes. IPs aren't much more difficult to change, and only the smallest sites even bother with IP bans in the current climate.

Authors have the power to block or remove any comment, so letting them police their own comment boards is the best option under the current setup.

That doesn't mean that Laurel doesn't take action against some of the offenders. Lots of reported comments are removed every day, and there's some evidence to suggest that a few users have been blackballed, having all their votes and comments removed on a regular basis. The size and setup of the site make preventative measures nearly impossible, so sweeping up the garbage left behind after the fact is the only viable option.

In the grand scheme of things, only the people in the opposing camps think the game of vote and counter-vote, comment and counter-comment take it seriously. Everyone else is rolling their eyes.

It received a comment so when I looked at it, I happened to glance at a couple of prior ones and saw this.

Its not just those 4 accounts tho. The Bonnie/Vastie/Annoy/asdasdasd troll to name but a few of their usernames, uses multiple accounts to 1 bomb/5 star back themselves up and argue with themselves which turns the comment section into a total cesspit.

The asshole is back in loving wives asking why the Bonnie account was banned. Just IP ban the fucker and be done with it.
