Why do people assume that Hispanics will vote Democrat? Many of the Hispanics I know vote conservative.

This cannot be overstated. Hispanics as a group are strongly in favor of a government safety net (read: single payer). I've linked to an analysis before, but something like 3/4 of all Hispanics BELOW the median wage in America support government health care, and 2/3 of Hispanics ABOVE the median wage in America support it as well.
Couple that with the well-documented antipathy of Republicans towards anyone who doesn't look or sound like them, and you have a surefire recipe for Hispanics voting Democratic for at least the next two generations.
This is why the conservatives spend so much time and effort on "block the vote" initiatives BTW.

I think that the majority of people who post regularly the geeb are smart and knowledgeable, but there seem to be way too many people who think that all Hispanics come from Hispania. My experience with people from Spanish speaking countries is that they can be very hostile to each other. Many embrace traditional conservative values. I used to go to a Spanish chat room to practice my Spanish but people were always at war. Even worse than here.

Because in the way you are speaking all hispanics may as well come from Hispania. Yes, not all Latinos are in love with each other. Do not call a Cuban Mexican if you like your teeth. Or Vice Versa. They have varying different cultures and even to some extent religion. Though Catholic is generally a safe bet. However when you look at voting patterns they are Democrats, not liberals mind you but they seem willing to look past gay marriage and other social issues to vote their economic interests.
We know first hand that not all Middle Easterners are the same. The overwhelming majority of terrorism is Muslim on Muslim. However come state side and two things happen. First they are in a different place where they don't need to act like that and second they lack the raw numbers to have meaningful conflict with each other. But if you look at Muslims as a voting bloc they were Republicans. . .all the way up until Bush ran them off the reservation.
So it's not that we are downplaying the differences between any two groups of Latinos. It's that when we're talking specifically about voting practices it is safe (for the time being) to lump them all together.

Yep, back when I was in the Army one of the sure-fire ways to incite a riot was to label any Hispanic guy a "Puerto Rican".
The most overt, over-the-top, Ishmael-class racism I've ever seen firsthand was working with a Castillean Spaniard from Spain (Not sure I've spelled this correctly). He regarded any central or south American Hispanic as a "mongrel".

Sean, I wasn't disagreeing with what you posted. I'm sure that statistics support your point. I just don't do stats since I know how they can be massaged to show anything. My point in saying that the majority of people who post here are smart and know the difference between different Latin/Hispanic cultures as well as Middle Eastern/ Arab Islamic/ Jihadists was to demonstrate that I am in conversation mode, not debate. I was referring to the brain dead who usually vote conservative.

But they will. They are not capitalists. They are people who believe that government is there to provide services and they are fleeing the political systems they created that could never and cannot presently, or in the future, provide the basic services they desire. Only one party is pandering to them and telling them, we will keep the services flowing as long as you vote for us; do not worry about the legality of your vote, you will be voting in places where we control the entire system and you will be part of the winning majority because that's where the bulk of the US population resides.

True. I witnessed it in Spain. Hispanics are mongrels, Spaniards are the best.
Castillian is the official language. Spaniards identify with their regions within Spain.
