i've lied about my nationality before. once at a burger king in london. i couldn't understand a word coming from the woman's mouth, so i started speaking spanish, and they brought over a translator. since the people i was with were spanish, they assumed i was as well.

when traveling, my passport goes inside a cover, so people don't see i am american. my nationality is not something i advertise when abroad.
