My idea for this is to recreate the Marvel Universe in a magical fantasy setting. The Red Shield is the primary military intelligence organization in the Midgardian Republic, which is close allies with the Asgardian Empire to the north. When Loki -- the adopted son of Emperor Odin -- discovers his true ancestry as a Jotun, he returns home to Jotunheim reclaims his throne as the heir to the fallen Frost King. He then amasses a force to invade Midgard on his path to Asgard.
Odin sends a force of warriors to aid Midgard, led by his son, Prince Thor. They are temporarily sworn into the Red Shield, and then paired with several Midgardian warriors to form a new joint team called the Avengers. Characters can be originals or reworked characters. Instead of Mutants or Inhumans or Mutates, humans with powers are known as Dragonborn, which is connected to a legend of the ancient Kree Dragons bestowing the gift of magic upon mankind.
Some humans learn to wield magic without being a Dragonborn, but they need vessels or tools or anchors to do so. In the case of Sir Anthony Stark, he spent years mastering the science of Alchemy and created an enchanted suit of armor for himself. Sir David Bannister was also working in Alchemy and accidentally fused his body with the body of a recently deceased Mountain Troll, becoming some sort of hulking hybrid.
Many of the Dragonborn and Alchemists of Midgard studied at Xavier Academy, named after Headmaster Charles Xavier, who had been teaching youngsters how to harness their potential for over a century. While now a very elderly man who could no longer walk on his own, his mind was as sharp as ever, and was expected to live at least several more decades, given that Dragonborn did tend to have slightly longer lifespans than normal humans.
Loki's invasion will only be our first major story arc, akin to the Battle of New York in the movie. From here we can branch into magical fantasy versions of Age of Ultron, Civil War, and Infinity War, as well as other story arcs. I'm open to ideas.
