30" monitor. Would have two ideally but my desk isn't big enough.

You should also ask about quality level and aspect ratio: 4:3, 16:9, 16:10, vs ultrawide.

I have a serious dislike for 16:9 and went back to a 20" 4:3 for work.

Dual 24" with one in portrait mode might be the best.

Then there is also the resolution issue - 4K?

16:10, 2560x1600.
Had it for about 8 years now and probably the best purchase I ever made.

I don't do desktops much; I phased those out in 1996. I had a media 'laptop' with a 19" screen but now I mostly work reclining with a 12.5" ThinkPad on my lap or a 7" Android tablet in my hands. My bro-in-law is a gamer with about four 30" monsters in wraparound mode but he's a perv. Sit at a desk with a monitor? Naw, I don't think so.

I use two 32" monitors.

I used to be surrounded by 4 when I was more of a hard core programmer and gamer. But for now, two is fine. If I want more, I have several sitting unused that I outgrew.

16x9 or 16x10 are they IPS?

Three monitors...

a 22" LED HD
a 24" LED 1080i
a 50" plasma 1080p

I rarely use the 50" except to watch movies.

i'm using a single 32'' display right now and i really can't see why i'd need anything bigger unless i put it across the damned room.

Denny

Desk top with a thin 22" or 24" monitor. It works and I can see what I want.
I have a keyboard, a tower, and a desk in the living room.

I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure what IPS is, tried to google it, but still don't know. All my monitors the past few years have been LEDs.
My main is 2560x1440 resolution.

So you're at WQHD with that, nice.

IPS is in plane switching:

the main attribute is very accurate color and color that doesn't shift with viewing angle. They can be quite a bit more expensive but not always.
Here's an ultrawide 21X9 that is IPS:

Here's a fairly cheap 4K IPS monitor:

Most companies offered IPS displays since mid 2000 on, some have dropped them due to cost.

Have I mentioned that your tits are amazing?
