He wasn't charged with a felony theft for stealing soda. The charges were raised to a felony because he hit the store manager with his car twice in the commission of the theft. Turning a simple miosdemeanor robbery into robbery with a deadly weapon (the car), a felony.

Idiot could be charged with attempted murder for intentionally hitting someone with his car.

The stolen soda would have been a misdemeanor. They are charged with a felony because they hit manager with their car...twice.

First of all, a $1.49 soda is not a felony anywhere. Second of all, if you order water and get soda with it, you're a fucking douchenozzle and deserve to go to prison for a long time, because fuck you.

I read it. Manager was wrong for making an issue of it and trying to block the car.

Regardless of what happened in the end, the Manager called the cops over the soda, nothing else had happened at that point. The Manager is a Manager, not a cop. Not tasked with trying to detain someone. You get the plate and don't interfere if they want to leave.

I'd fire the Manager, drop the charges and give the guy free sodas for life.
