Best thing I have heard all day in a day filled with good news and porn.

There’s a new kink in North Carolina’s LGBT controversy: A popular porn website is banning all computers from “The Tar Heel State.”

XHamster.com has been refusing to serve anyone from North Carolina since 12:30 p.m. EDT, Monday.

Instead, users with a North Carolina IP address are just seeing a black screen on their computer — no porn.

of course
the people that would
pen such legislation
would not be dismayed by
its constituents
being cut off from
pornography.

Except many "pro-morality" lawmakers are themselves consumers of pr0n. They can always fall back on their archives, yes?

On a more cynical note: The Hidden Economics of Porn sez:
Pinsker: One thing I think many people might be surprised to learn is that many of the big-name porn sites are all owned by this one company, MindGeek. Do you have a sense of how much of the industry that company controls?

Tarrant: No, I don't. Those figures are really hard to determine because porn is mostly online, as opposed to DVD sales or magazine sales, which you can track more easily. Tube sites—such as YouPorn, RedTube, Pornhub—are hugely popular and it's estimated that MindGeek owns 8 out of the 10 largest tube sites.*
If MindGeek owns xHamster (that's not clear from my reading) then blocking NC will drive anxious customers to other non-blocking sites -- and maybe add a surcharge for NC residents.

</conspiracy theory>

EDIT: Forget the conspiracy theory. MindGeek does not own xHamster. Damn, another good speculation shot to shit. But read the linked article anyway.

Springsteen has been and remains a putz...

:(

He is saying in effect, "Hey, I am putting a morality tax on me; I do not want certain fans and do not want the revenue from them, my selflessness and social conscious are so important that I will go from being super-fantastically successful to merely fantastically successful."

Such a sacrifice as that is not a real sacrifice. He's hoping his other fans will now suddenly remember him and make him relevant again as well as gaining new fans from the social justice youth crowd; in short, he's hoping to make a profit from being politically correct. The fucking cynic sold out to the establishment years ago when he fought to defeat his country in Iraq.

Chris Christie wants to give him a big hug and take his bff to the ladies room for a powder.

He is in effect treating the "moral majority" in exactly the same way they want to treat the LGBT community and is refusing to do business with bigots. No surprise that you try to condemn him and the LGBT community while defending the bigots.

Even if I'm with everyone else (to condone that new discriminatory legislation) my first instinct was to think:
"What's the catch?"

This is a business company that has no trouble promoting -indirectly- a certain type of unlawful sex (the one that gets you banned on this site). And that also posts (among the acceptable ones) porn that degrades women. And that has no trouble allowing access for viewers from South Arabia and so on.

They suddenly grew a conscience? Hard to believe. Must be something more to it, like trying to attract more viewers from other States? Who knows.

In saying that, and regardless of xHamsters' likely hidden agenda, it's good that this happened: it puts the spotlight on that State.

But they can still access xHamster by using proxy servers and such, I believe?

*chuckle*

A consistent theme over the last two days...

A_J's corollary #3, “The New Age Liberal maintains contradictory positions comfortably compartmentalized. (This is because the New Age Liberal is a creature that believes in consensus as a short-cut to an examination of the facts and a reasoned judgment about said facts. Corollary #2.)”

That's what the trolls do here.

It's only window dressing for publicity...
Xhamster should also take down the sort of porn that is on the cusp (the one that worries Laurel - gosh, I keep prancing around the words becausse I don't want to get banned again).

In saying that, even if Bruce Springsteen might have done it -partially- for publicity, I liked the idea of him cancelling his concert. If only more celebrities would make such statements ..

I want to know what this porn is now.

So true Lol.
The eternal "Don't look at the white bear" and the person certainly ends up looking at the white bear.

Tell me, or the bunny gets it!
...Imagine I'm holding a bunny or something.
